DOOM

The difference I saw moving Doom to SSD
I loaded this on to my regular HD, just because of a lack of concentration, I forgot I had switched Valve to default to the HD, I can run it on Nightmare and get 60-89 FPS, is there a major performance boost for anyone who had it on the reg HD ad moved it to SSD?

UPDATE:
I moved it to the SSD, hile the load time difference was not major for me, it did eliminate those dips I was having where I would for 1/2 of a second drop into the 40's from the high 60's to 80 range.

My specs:
My rig:
GTX 980 Ti
Intel Core i7-5960X 3,298 MHz
32GB Corsair @ 2400 MHz
MoBo: ASRock X99X Killer
64-bit Windows 10
HD1 : 256 GB SanDisk SD8SBAT256G1122

I haven't tried it on a traditional hard drive, but I'd imagine the loading times are much longer with an HD.

not fps ...just loading screens for an SSD i believe...unless you experience stuttering then its a possibility textures arent loading fast enough but im not sure...see what others ahve to say.

They don't seem very long, the only thing I'm concerned about is some occasional dips into the 40's, was wondering if that would clean it up, also, I never moved a game from one to the other, would I lose all of my saves? Or just copt and paste the save file and be good to go?

Ok, you typed this up as I was typing my last post. If it's not going to improve my frames, I'm not too concerned, loading time is pretty fast for me.

I'm getting framerate drops as well. It seems to be related more to the amount of enemies on-screen.

nope just load times

I'm porting it over for the hell of it, I'll report if it makes any difference.

It really shouldn't affect your framerate, but the textures aren't small, so it's possible I suppose.

Yeah, it sounds like it won't but maybe What I thought were not long load times will be much better. I should have put it there anyway.

So the loading times are mainly just rendering. Interesting.

I was thinking about that earlier - since the texture sizes are so large, you probably do need the higher data bandwidth to properly stream them. Sounds like we're finally getting that part of gaming where SSDs become standard equipment for the average gamer, instead of just the enthusiasts.

Not that I mind, of course - SSDs are great tech and the prices are getting to be pretty reasonable as well. I just thought the mandatory adoption date would be a little farther out than it is now.

the difference i experienced on moving it to ssd was not getting the 91% bug and actually being able to play multiplayer without a disconnect from host

Um; I play the game on an HDD and I get 150+fps. I have a 1070.

No dips or anything, just silky smooth. Y'all should try vulcan if you have lesser cards.

Performance has nothing to do with your drive besides load times.
