Did the DooM 3 chainsaw require fuel?
I don't remember it needing it. Kind of dissapointing you can't just run around and gib everthing in sight.

It's a 1 hit kill for enemies.

Hell Knights and Revenants require 3, Mancubus requires 6 I think, and the Baron of Hell requires 5. I don't know what requires 7 yet, nothing I think.

Considering how chainsaw works in this game, it it was fuelless like other games it would have been the most op weapon, more than BFG considering that it drops ammo.
Also in doom 1-2 it was useless except for swag or imps

It was useful on cacodemons and pinkies because of their lower pain tolerance. You could essentially stun-lock them.

Oh! I forgot cacos, but never tried pinkies, when I played doom I was 5-6 years old, so I was afraid of pinkies and never tried get near them lmao

Yea, each enemy had a pain chance, where they would enter a "pain" animation when getting hurt that would interrupt their current animation. It was different for each enemy, and made the gameplay a lot deeper than it would've been if they were just dumb bullet sponges.

It's one thing I think this Doom does well too, making the enemies react to your attacks, since you can interrupt them as well.

Spectres[doom.wikia.com] were worse when I played as a kid.

This is something that I really like about doom, I remember that the archvile had one of the least pain chance because I hardly never got them in pain state... Btw, in this new doom monsters get stunned too, so they've pain chance, I can't remember if doom 3 monsters had it tho...

Doom 1 and 2 chainsaw was basically a short-ranged version of the chaingun. It was great on low zombies, imps, pinkie demons (and specters), and a solo cacodemon. Lost Souls were also great saw fodder. You could saw a Pain Elemental, but to avoid getting hit by the three skulls spawned on death you'd have to do it at a corner and duck away really quick. Revenants were easy to saw IF you could get close. Best place to use the chainsaw: E3M9: Warrens. In the Pinkie Demon hallway, go to town. Also, as a tip to avoid taking bite damage, when using the saw keep tapping the backpedal key slightly. Pinkies have a VERY short melee range, well short of the saw, and doing this keeps a wayward bite from hurting you. The saw will keep dragging you into your victim, so if you dance just right with it then it's your best friend there.

Monsters you did not want to saw: Barons and Hell Knights would claw you apart since they had a low pain chance when hit. Arachnotrons were suicide to charge. Mancubus was almost impossible to land melee hits on due to Doom's strange hitbox behavior. Source ports of Doom will allow it, but not the original Doom2.exe. Same for the Spider Mastermind. Speaking of... trying to saw that or the Cyberdemon was flat out asking to die.

Doom3's chainsaw does not require fuel. You could saw what you wanted, when you wanted, and it's VERY effective if employed properly. Aiming for the head of a monster spawning in - especially a powerful one like an Archvile - can quickly dispatch it before it can attack you. It's also very effective against tentacle soldiers. Just charge the soldier, duck right before he attacks, and shove the saw up his crotch. Do it right and you'll take zero damage and own the soldier. Pinkies tend to be a problem trying to saw because they kick your view angles around a lot though it can be done. Hell Knights are not good to try to saw. They smack you around pretty easily, and Zsecs will fill you full of bullets before you can get the saw on them.

I don't think I ever used the chainsaw except for some swag attacks on zombies
