DOOM
Does replaying a level wipe your progress?
I finished the campaign, but obviously missed a lot of secrets in all those levels. If I select a level to replay, is all my progress after that (the score you get for those levels in the intermission screen) wiped?

And let's say I have all the secrets minus one in a certain level. Can I just play that level and pick up that one secret to wrap it up? Or do I need to get ALL the secrets in one playthrough for it to save?

Nope. It has all the stuff you found and achieved through the campaign. So yes, you can just find the only one you missed, it does not show the ones you already have.

After completing the campaign you can use the mission select to go back through and get anything missed. You can also up difficulty as high as UV if you played through on a lower setting earlier. You CANNOT up it to nightmare or UN, though, you have to start a new game in a new slot to select that option. You also play these levels again with all weapons, upgrades, etc. you've acquired.

New game in a new slot starts everything over at 0%

2 achievements to note, if you are concerned about them, are those that specificy 'on a single campaign run'. Fully upgrading the praetor suit and collecting enough argent cells to max out health, armor, and ammo capacity. Those you can not 'go back and get' after completion from my understanding. They have to be completed before fighting the final boss and finishing the campaign. I may be wrong, as I haven't yet got my last argent cell to max out capacity, but I believe that is what others are saying...and considering that both are very low on global percentage list, it appears to work that way.

You are wrong. You can get these achievments even after completing the campaign because it is still 1 run. I have earned them like that.

What a relief. Good design decision. It just got me to continue playing and re-doing levels =)

I have a question: if I play a mission to get that one secret or data log that I missed, do I have to complete the mission again for it to count? Or can I get it and then exit the mission?

Nope. Just grab it and you can exit, works that way too.

I can confirm this works, even for the weapon kill challenges. You don't need to get to another checkpoint, don't need to finish a level, just replay it until you find/earn what you need, and quit.

Awesome, thanks!

^yeah can confirm that as well, the game auto-saves any time something like that happens. You don't have to worry about checkpoints. Give it a second or two after getting what you need, I did exit out earlier while holding a doom doll and that one didn't stick...but my fault for not waitng a few more seconds.
One little advise: If playing on the pc, with mouse and keyboard, I found the Nightmare difficulty to be a near to impossible challenge only until I've reached the Argon facility. At this point I have 175 health, micro missiles, stun capability and other upgrades and the gameplay, while really difficult and demanding, it is more so REWARDING. Which, to me, makes anything below Nightmare obsolete. Just for people not to resign from playing on Nightmare durimg the first couple of levels. The learning curve is rapid and soon I began to enjoy Nightmare a lot.

Ultra-Nightmare or nothing at all!

Although I can't even get past the second stage without getting caught by a random fireball. I always die right outside by the second satellite alignment control center near the powerup.

I just need to re-ask the threadstarters first question: can i replay a level to collect goodies if you already reached the next level without loosing the own progress?

This thread is the top google result. For anyone else searching: During a campaign, if you replay previous levels for collectables your current campaign spot is preserved to continue from.

But these answers were either ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or out of date, because i just replayed several prior levels for collectables and none of the progress was saved as described.
