DOOM
Xbox One controller suddenly becomes unresponsive
So I had had no problems at all until yesterday. I started up the game, went onto the campaign to continue where i left off. Now all of a sudden my xbox one controller stops working. I start to move around and all of a sudden the character keeps going in the direction i was going before the controller stopped working.
If i was turning left, then i just keep on going left in circles, all while the controller goes unresponsive, even though its still on and no flashing light or anything. I have to disconnect and reconnect the controller for it to work again, but the problem comes back if i stay in DOOM. So i have to close down the game, disconnect and reconnect the controller for it to work properly again.
This problem only happens in DOOM. Tested it out by playing other games, to see if it was the controller, but no it hasnt malfunctioned in any other game at all.

I love my xbox elite controller... i use it for PC games all the time... but DOOM?!

As of yesterday, I'm having the same issue.

However, a month or two ago, I played through this entire game on the same controller without a problem. It was only when I tried to play it again recently, after the update, that my controller would just randomly shut-off during gameplay. The only thing that has changed with my PC since I played it last is that I upgraded my sound capacity to 5.1 surround.

It doesn't happen when playing other games, only doom.

I'm using a wireless 360 controller.

My controller is having random disconnects in the game as well. I am using an xbox 360 elite controller. Makes nightmare difficulty interesting and a little bit more deadly. Hope there will be a small patch for this because I suck with a mouse and keyboard for FPS's.
Also my 360 and XB One disconnect now. The on screen indicators say "Press A", "Press X" etc so it's obviously being detected. I haven't tried with Steam Controller yet.

Temporary Fix:
Go back to the main menu
Change to MP/SP/Snapmap
Load back to the game mode you were using previously.

[And some people can manage to play using a controller just fine. Sometimes it's nice to play on the sofa with a few "real life" friends. I'm not saying it's a perfect control method, but it's more than possible to press A A to jump. Maybe the keyboard and mouse warriors are jealous of your comfortable setup, or friends.]

I found something out that fixed my issues; I disconnected all USB devices (minus mouse and keyboard). I uninstalled all USB game controller ports in device manager. This basically told my computer the only USBs that I have ever used and am using is just my keyboard and mouse. Then, I plugged my xBox 360 controller back in and it re-installed. That fixed the issue for me. As a test, I plugged in my other USB devices again, and the controller started having issues again until I removed the USB controllers again. This is the third game this year I have ran into this issue and it actually is not that rare. Hope this helps :)
