Launching in Dev Mode: FIXED
Update 6/30: This has been fixed with Update 1. Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve the issue.

---

If you find your game in a Developer Mode state, there are two possible reasons and respective fixes:

Having multiple users on the same Windows profile to play DOOM, even if it is with different Steam IDs, can cause this issue. We recommend using individual Windows profiles instead. Save games are held under each individual Windows profile, and sharing the profile between multiple players can cause issues.Activating a console command will put the entire game into Developer Mode, causing any further save progress to be flagged as developer-only. This includes any new Campaign save games created, or any old Campaign save games progressed, even if no console commands were active during the play of that save.

If you make use of the command console, you will need to delete any Campaign save file that has made progress with a console command active and then relaunch the game in order to continue playing without Developer Mode. We recommend moving your existing save game file to a different folder and then restarting the game. When doing so, you should temporarily turn off your Cloud saves in Steam, too. This will avoid Steam replacing the unwanted save file with a backup.

First attempt to start a new game, loading the first level got to 48%...and now further. Gave it 5 minutes then hit reset -_-

2nd attempt went better - played to 3/4th level (possibly called The Beggining of the End?) Definately NOT in Dev Mode so that's good.

Exitted to main menu then loaded back up again and all seems normal.

Holy crap! Seems like quite a few more people getting problems, such as Jonof, above.

Major annoyance. I just hope, really hope this patch wasn't screwed up like the previous error reporting patch - that crashed itself!!

Hope launch another little patch to fix that problem, soon.

Hey all. We wanted to provide some clarity on this.

As part of Update 1, the behavior of “Dev Mode” was changed because some user behavior or save game problems would be mistaken as developing/tinkering and feedback from users revealed that once Dev Mode was enabled, it wasn’t always clear how to disable it, and save games were being effected that the user never intended to use tinker with in Dev Mode.

To help users avoid accidental Dev Mode activation, all Dev Mode functionality has been disabled by default. This means that save games that were previously marked as Dev Mode saves, now display as “corrupted” to prevent the user from accidentally re-enabling Dev Mode by accessing them. The previous behavior can be returned entirely by providing `+devMode_enable 1` on the command line.

Let us know if this helps.

Would have been nice for y'all to have labeled the file as something like "Developer Save" or something instead of "Corrupted" and no warning anywhere. Some of us like to relax in GOD mode and don't care for multiplayer or co-op.

Lol at "fixed". Bit premature? Maybe listen to what the players HERE say before announcing it's fixed.

Yeah, clearly they don't want it effecting their game's first sales discount on Steam. I'm still putting off on buying it.

Has anyone tried just starting fresh? It's irritating when you have to start over on some games but maybe the fix doesn't work until then? (saves aren't always salvaged by patches, sometimes you have to start clean). That could be why they're ignoring people that still have the problem that are playing on old saves. Outside the devmode bug, I've read it's still crashing too.

Most of us who experienced the bug have restarted repeatedly and encountered it again, and are waiting for confirmation from the community that it's actually been fixed before we even attempt to play it again.

Also...still want a refund from Bethesda/ID for this completely broken product, the worst gaming experience I've had in 20+years of gaming.... the most I've ever paid for a front-cost on a game title, and this bug has completely ruined it for me.

Steam won't refund me, because I put in "over 2 hours" before I encountered this completely game breaking bug... so I'm out of luck, since the developers do not stand by their product.

Played 3-4 levels and not in Dev Mode. So far so good.

I'm hoping one of the moderators can help me out with this. I am nobody's definition of a "hard-core" gamer, although I recognize that many on this forum would identify themselves as such.

I typically just play the campaign modes of whatever game I purchase, and usually on God Mode (I recently finished one of your Wolfienstein games this way.)

I recently purchased your Doom (2016) game, and attempted to play it in a similar way. I bought it a few weeks ago, and used the command ~ + God. I played the game for about 2 hours, and then didn't play until today, July 1, 2016 (this had nothing to do with your game, just had other competing demands on my time.)

When I logged into today, my previous progress was deleted. Further, the God Mod command no longer worked.

The error I am receiving is:

"Attempting to call a developer command "God".
Dev Mode is not enabled and action cannot be completed. Set cvar "dev mode" enable to enable devoper options."

I recognize that my original progress is likely gone, but that's not really a big deal. I'm hoping that you can give me the correct command regarding "cvar dev mode" etc.

I look forward to your early response,

Alan

Well, just played for 3 hours 36 mins (I always have HW monitor running back ground).

So far no probs what so ever. Frame rate seems a bit better. Now never below 100fps with all game settings maxed (GTX 980 HOF OCed card) Uses about 3.5GB of my 4GB VRAM. Close.

So, I'm happy. I realize 3 and half hours isn't a long time though. Still on my PC seems perfect!

I realize a certain % of players have issues still. Can't think what it would be if loading or starting new from a NON Dev mode save, or starting a new game.

I don't doubt anyone here, but I'll just say often the little things get overlooked. Might be worth checking settings again just to be sure it's not that. Obvously dont try to load a save that was made in DEV Mode either, but that's obvious. Good luck.

Ey... Question.. ¿Where the F*** are my previous saved games? Decided to check what was new, and SURPRISE!!! My Previous Saved Games are GONE... ¿Really? Will I need to Play it all over again to kill that Damn St**id Brain Spider which I was about to do?

- Any one knows if there's a way to "retrieve" your old saved games, at least for the fun?

Tried it, works, must enable "dev mode" to load the "Corrupted Maps". Thank youl.

Although I am really "re-thinking" the idea of starting ALL OVER AGAIN. Because even if I manage to play my old saved games I won't get any of the DOOM achievements.... Damn Bethesda... you are lucky I love Doom since it came out in 1993.

I was referring to restarting since the latest patch was out.
