Downloaded the game, copied it to my main PC, it still tries to dawnload it.
So i bought DOOM and downloaded it on my Laptop, now i copied it to my main PC into my Steam folder. Once i then doubleclicked DOOM in my Steam library it told me it would check the existing files, but then wont launch the game but donwload it all over again. What can i do to play the game i already downloaded?

Copied? If you mean you literallly just copied and pasted the directory to some USB drive and then tried putting that data on another computer, I don't think that's the best way to go about it no matter what. Even if it may work with some games. You should use the backup feature built into Steam and then move the backup folder it creates onto a usb drive to transfer that folder onto another computer and use the restore feature on Steam and point it to that folder.
The folder i copied it in was created from such a backup. It worked for some games before. But i just tried again and it seems to do something. I will tell you guys if it works. Thanks for the answers so far!

Ok well the fact that you backed it up with the built in utility is good and correct procedure, but did you then restore the game from that folder using the built in restore utility or did you simply copy the contennts to the other computer?
well, i really just copy/pasted the game folder and now it tried to download again. I dont want to lose my steam library on my main PC, can i just backup and restoore this one game?

Of course. Do you need me to walk you through the steps? It couldn't be much easier, it's really just a few steps.
Just for your general information: I have steam installed on my SSD which is too small for DOOM, and a seperate SteamLibrary folder where i once installed a Steam library backup on my HDD. I dont know if that causes a problem, or if i easily could switch my Steam installation from that SSD to my HDD. If that wouldnt cause problems, please walk me through the copying process.

kind of weird. i have done that with many games since i had some unexpected failuer of my pc. i have simple transfered the files over and steam recognized it. took few minutes and the game was ready to play. no downloading.
you really have to copy the entire lot over to your SSD drive. the file should have been 50gb.

Followed the instructions from the link i added, game launched. Lets see if there will be any errors.
