Doom Difficulty glitch
After finishing the game on Ultra-Violence, I started it up on Nightmare mode. I'm pretty close to the end of the game again, but even though I never changed difficulties the game is automatically switching it to Ultra-Violence. I never selected it, and every time I try to back out to the 3 game save file screen; when I go back in, it says Nightmare and then I watch the game switch it to Ultra Violence. Anyone else with this frustrating problem?

I'm having the same thing with nightmare except it's just changing to I don't want to die. I can't figure out what the hell is going on.

Also, on a personal note, this is definitely the buggiest game I have played in my life and I've played Fallout 4. Bethesda deserves an award.

How can you tell if it changes difficulty? Nightmare doesn't have a difficulty switch.

What will happen is that you'll be fine and playing on nightmare and when you go to login to your campaign the difficult will be listed in the campaign screen as I don't want to die. The best part is since you "shouldn't" be able to change the difficulty to nightmare, there's no way to change it back.

You may also notice because you'll go from getting your ass handed to you to suddenly everything being absurdly easy... which is how I noticed it happened the first time...

You don't think the fact that you're stomping these demons day and night on hard difficulties isn't taking it's toll on their self esteem. I'd say they're fu kkkkking with you the only way they can.

Here's what it looks like:

Screen 1: All appears well. (Pasadilla = Nightmare)

Screen 2: And suddenly the same campaign is "I don't want to die" (No quiero morrir in my case, but you get the idea)

Yeah man! it sucks because I thought I was doing something right in terms of my default roaming patterns during combat. Then I reloaded and poof... False hopes... I still suck at this game... :(

Ugh this just happened to me 2/3s into the game, no clue how it happened. And as someone else noted, suddenly it got very easy.

Same thing happened to me the third time!!! I started game on nightmare (after finishing on hurt me plenty) and suddenly i one day saw that it was on HMP or even medium setting, can't remember. I thought i was crazy and that i made a mistake when choosing difficulty in the beginning. Then i restarted on Nightmare making sure it was on nightmare and it happened again. The game crashed, i restarted computer and when i relaunched it was HMP again. The third time i was furious and i decided to record my gameplay. I have recording of mission by mission of playthrough on nightmare. Nerar the end, i think mission 10, i stopped playing for some time coz BF1 took over and yesterday when i decided to play some Doom, i was greeted with an updated and with HMP AGAIN instead of NIGHTMARE.

DAAMN!! :steamsad: Is there a way to change difficulty in CFG ?!

Im having a similar problem.. I started a new campaign on Nightmare, the las level i played on that difficult was the "Argent Energy Tower" YESTERDAY. But today i opened steam, loaded the actual mission (the next one) and ITS CHANGED THE DIFFICULT TO "HURT ME PLENTY" omfg... Now i cant switch the Nightmare´s difficult back... This is annoying..
