The new Doom is not a Doom 3 sequel but a reboot of the old Doom.
It is not scary. It is gory. The environment can make you feel a little bit scary but ... not for me ;p
This is an action game not a survival game like Doom 3.
Anyway you can easily look at Playthrough of the game on youtube or on Twitch.
You haven't played Doom then. The only scary "Doom" game is the third one, which is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ entry in the series.
You had plenty of weapons and HP/Shield that you could take on anything. Towards the end you got a silly weapon which was ridiculously powerful.
All Doom 3 had was jump scares.
Doom 3 a survival game? Since when? It was an action game all the way through.
I was I think 15 when I played Doom II and it was scary for me probably because of my age.
For you, perhaps. It sure was scary for me when I first played it (at the age of 12 when it came out) with its stupid ambients, horror-esque atmosphere and unnecessary jumpscares.
Read the logs you find in the game, it explains his back story and where he came from (kind of, hes supposed to be 1000s of years old) and also explains his super speed and strength. It ties in with Doom 3 in a very loose way :)
I agree with you there. Doom 1 and 2 were fast pace shoot em up Action horror games while Doom 3 felt like playing dead space in first person perspective horror survival game.
