I had the same issue and discovered that DS4Windows was replaced by the InputMapper project (inputmapper.com) which is made by the same team. After installing, Doom recognized my DS4.

Playing an FPS on a PC with a controller makes no sense to me. I purposely bought it on PC to use mouse/keyboard, then for graphical and performance reasons. I won't slam you like some here will, but I personally would have gotten it on the PS4 if I intended on using a controller.

Controller is objectively worse than a mouse and keyboard when it comes to fps. Or any game that allows proper M&kb function. I really wonder why the ♥♥♥♥ you're playing on PC if you don't like the main components. Lmao

Try opening ds4 settings tab and check 'hide ds4 controller'. I had to do that to get ps4 controller working on dark souls 3.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people, who cares what someone uses to enjoy their games. guess what nerds, not everyone likes to game hunched over a chair getting major artheritis in their spine. some of us like to sit back on our couch, big screen, and getting 4k resolution with max out settings on our super computers.

we are GAMERS, do not compare us to the trivial console peasants. If you can't understand why someone wants to GAME differently, then you yourself are not a GAMER, but a NERD.

Hey op, have you tried scpserver before? that's what I use. I've never tried inputmapper though, does it support ps3 controllers too? as I use a mix of ps3+4 controllers when I want to play 4 player games on the COUCH, GASP, gaming.

might have to try it, sometimes Scpserver (most likely my own configs, doubt many have this same problem) has to be uninstalled and installed again to get it functioning, it's random happens maybe twice a month not a big deal. But if input mapper works better and supports ps3 i'll try it out.

BTW I do play fps with the mouse and keyboard unless it's a casual fps like Doom (don't kid yourselves kids, game is easy except for the hardest difficulty) or Wolfenstein,, ect (non multiplayer fps) then I play with the controllers. Fallout 4 also experienced on the couch and ps4 controller. good times.

I know this is an old thread but the answer to the OP question is that you must use the program DS4 and then CHECK the box which says "Hide PS4 controller". That will let your controller rumble and work normally.

Many games need this option turned on to function properly. However some games, like Dying Light, work with the PS4 natively and if you uncheck the box you can make use of the PS4 options like the touch pad and light bar effects.
