demon fighting each other

at least 2 time i saw demon fighting each other i wondering why.....
first thing that come to my mind was "they are demon ultimate evil creature, if they dont have anyone to fight they turn on each other"
but it dont happen often so.... that must be something else.
only thing i am almost sure, the fight seem to be between 2 different kind of demon maybe some "race" of demon dont go along... maybe racism is a thing in hell too?

I haven't made a point to test this out, but if its like the original Doom games you can get most demons to fight each other if you can get a demon to hit another demon with its projectile attack. And if I remember correctly you couldn't get two of the same type of demons to fight eachother, they had to be dif. Guessing in the chaos of battle it just happens some times on accident without trying. Demon infighting was a neat part of the original I thought.

i saw the same thing,and i believe they were the same demons they killed me and from the floor watched them striking each other.that was the one and only ttime i saw them.so far anyway.

yeah if you can cause a demon to harm another demon, or possesed they will beat the piss outta each other, dont think it works for cyber demons and hellknights tho but its from the original doom.

i actually used to use this as a method of fighting in DOOM 1 the old classic, causing huge bosses to kill each other then i mop up the endings of them

Glad to hear that is in the game, looks like the developers really paid attention to the details of Doom 1 and 2.

Its a throw back to the old days of AI really more of a love letter. Back then AI used a form of targeting where if the creature was hurt by another object it chooses that object as its target. Honestly it kind of gives the game that demonic no sh!ts given feel this is hell we are talking about right :P Infact in Doom2 one of the cool things you could do is get the Cyber Deamon and the Spider Deamon to duke it out then you battled the victor.

There is Demon infighting. You will also find that lower class demons may be just slaughtered by higher class demons. For example, durring your first trip in hell, you will find an arena with a Barron of Hell just slaughtering a large group of Unwilling and a few Imps.

I just saw two Revenants fighting a Baron of Hell across the room before they even noticed me. So maybe they just fight each other unprovoked, too.
