I bought this for $89 Aust = $65 US.
Put it this way. I know very well it is common practice now. It was the same with the 2 recent Wolfenstein games (same publisher) and a few other games I have. I do believe however that if I buy the disc, then the content should be there to install faster rather than DL. If I wanted digital then I would buy a keycode or from Steam. But I can't read a pre-order box warning until I get it through my door. I was more than expecting it to be this way. It's just a silly way of annoying people that need not be. If you want digital then fine. I do not always want it this way. With the size of modern game files and Steam having a low stream speed, it makes more sense to buy a physical copy for my needs. I can download a 10 gig file in minutes off Chrome. Can't on Steam!
As for physical, you'd need several DVDs to install, which would likely drive up the price, which would likely result in people complaining about how physical games are more expensive. It's kind of a lose lose that way.
I could of went to the store, bought a XBox One & DOOM, set it all up & had it sooner then getting a preorder from Gamestop. That's Beth's fault, not GS's or mine.
Wolf:TNO had several DVD's & it just downloaded patches & whatnot.
With the size capacity on DVD roms not being that adequate anymore I think it will be the norm at some point (and it makes sense) to move on to Blu ray media for certain games.
I mean, I don't even have a DVD drive as I've no need for it. Been years!
