Is Doom Marine (AKA Doomguy) the bad guy now?

After playing and finishing the single player campaign, I can't help but wonder... Am I the bad guy in this game now? I mean the game is called Doom, and that is exactly what I am bring to the demons of hell, senseless violent Doom! I mean from the start we are told (they are rage, brutal, without mercy, but you, you will be much worst. Rip and tear, until it is done) I then burst open from a rock and begin slaughtering demons left and right and where ever I can find them. Then as the game progresses, I find out that these demons have a fear of a prophecy, about this warrior who comes to hell to kill and brutally murder every demon in it. I mean these demons are terrorfied of this prophecy, and this guy, to which who can blame them. These demons go all the way to try to stop this independing doom, by amputating limbs and sticking high tech weapons on them, and even learning to jump very high so they can stomp on this prophecy. Yet it dosen't help them as they all are eventually defeated.

Doom Marine also does other villianious things, such as destory the red energy that is fueling most of the mar projects, killing A.I that was only helping him during the game. I don't know why, but I feel sorry for these demons, they really did try this time, yet lost to one lone marine.

Yeah but those people had it coming, I mean they were bad cleaners, put blood all over the walls, and wasted good candles when there was lighting around.

The demons absorb entire dimensions into their hell dimension and kill and pillage in order to fuel their strength. You da real MVP in this game.

He makes a backup of Vega before "killing" it. Not to mention it was required to close the portal.

If you read the codex, you were part of the night sentinel order who were basicly the guardians of the elemental wraiths ( yup the one you put to rest in the last mission, when you put them to rest you can see phantoms of passed night sentinel appear to point your next objective ) but the wraiths were betrayed and were captured by the demons with the help of the betrayer. They were then harnessed for their energy so the demon legions could transport their soldiers wherever they pleased and absorbing the dimension the wraiths were part of (your home) into their dimension. So DoomGuy goes on a crusade to avenge his brothers and defeat every demon he encounters even killing the titan. So the demons tend him a trap where they baited him in a temple full of lower demons before dropping the temple on him and then trap you in a sealed coffin so you can't get out and spoil their plan, marking it so that every demons know not to open it. Your armor was also crafted by a renegade demon forger and the runes on it were marked by him, that is why it synergise with argent energy so well and is indestructible. So yeah, DoomGuy is avenging his «homeworld» and has become known as the DOOM Slayer.

Also the crucible sword was your sword from when you were in the night sentinels, it's the sword that is referenced in the codex when they say the demons fell to the Doom slayer sword. So no doubt that if this get a follow up we'll get to steal it from Haynes and have some fun with it. At least I hope we will, because it looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BADASS

It could replace the chainsaw, it's fuel being the collected blood of your slain enemies instead.

On an unrelated note I'm pretty sure you actually saved VEGA's backup right before the trip back to hell, not that Samuel noticed.

Yes he does, he saves it on a chip like the one you get from the elite guard of the UAC and put it inside his armor, would be cool to see him pop it back up in the system if we go back to stop samuel so he can help us. I don't think it would feel right to implement it like a cortana style AI that would be in your suit, but who knows.

The fact that he backs up Vega in the mission instead of proceeding to just terminate the AI I think is proof he's good , I think everything else he did that could be seen as "bad" he seemed to have good reason to do it as he did.

Since an AI doesn't have feeling, he probably calculated that it was the best outcome, but yeah I was kinda sad to kill him, but then we back him up on a chip and I almost had a tear since it was the first time DoomGuy showed any emotion
