CPU 2500k
GPU GTX 660TI
Monitor 1440x900
8GB Ram
WIN 7 64bit Pro
- First I had to press the power button on my PC to shut down without doing a hard reset, because nothing would allow me to get back to the desktop, even ctrl+alt+del did not work.
- Went into Nvidia control panel and reset settings for Doom to default, which is just "prefer maximum performance" and everything else left alone.
- Opened Doom, set it to Windowed and 720p, set advanced graphics settings to the Low preset. Also disabled anti-aliasing, V-sync, motion blur and chromatic thing.
- Closed Doom and started it again, loaded my saved game and this time it worked fine, the level ended and I was able to save and exit.
- The problem was solved now, so I put my graphics settings back to what they were before, quit Doom and put the Nvidia settings back to how I had them (in addition to "prefer maximum performance", I also have refresh rate set to maximum, and v-sync + tripple buffering on, with v-sync disabled in Doom).
And that's it, once you are able to get to the the end level screen you should be out of danger (well at least until you are torn apart by the next demons that appear). This crash didn't happen in my first playthrough, but I updated my graphics driver since then so maybe that has something to do with it.
I've also seen some of the random crashes, where it just quits to desktop with no error message. These seem to only be later in the game, because I'm on my 2nd playthrough now (nightmare) and haven't had any crashes up until the end of Argent Tower.
My specs (nothing overclocked):
CPU: i5 3570k
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: GTX 660 2GB (driver 368.22)
Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V LX
Sound card: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio
Windows 10 Pro x64
Settings in Doom when this crash happened:
Full screen, 900p, all video and graphics settings enabled and on high preset with texture filtering at 16x, V-sync disabled (forced through Nvidia settings with tripple buffering), FXAA.
Hardware:
MSI Gtx 960 GAMING 4GB, newest nvidia drivers (368.39, 07/06/2016)
16 GB RAM
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.3GHz
250GB SSD, 60GB+ free
Win 10 64bit
Doom Version: 64bit, 6.1.1.527
What happens is exactly what everyone is writing: game lights up gradually after countdown to 4th gate opening, then goes pitch black and it never displays anything else to me.
Playing in windowed settings, all lowest, everything disabled (vsync, chromatic sth etc.), I opened Task Manager and what I see is:
DOOMx64 Process:
0-0,2% CPU (CPU peaks from 0 to 0.2% form time to time.)
2425MB RAM taken
State: Not responding
I dumped process data to a .DMP file (5.8GB), so when any of the developers are willing to look into it, I can provide it.
I really rely on you guys fixing this or telling my what I'm doing wrong. It's a paing in the a**, tried to walk this lvl through 4+ times now :/
