I'm getting a muffled sound bug since installing the latest drivers.

Yes I had same problem last night no sound at all and then after closing doom no sound in pc, music or any game just no sound at all. Forced to do clean install wind 8.1 lost 400gb of games installed drivers boom sound is back. After work I'll re download doom if it crashes again refund! I have no time to play around to get this working.

well iv just sorted out the prob ish

Im using blutooth headphones ...they work fine with every game and win 10 no probs but for some weird reason i get no sound with DOOM.

so just to test I turned my headphones off and KABOOM iv now got sound..

DOOM + blutooth headset = no sound
DOOM - blutooth headset = sound

this is a weird bug and in my 30 yrs of gaming iv never come across it

Hope this helps someone :)

Are you guys using 48000hz as bitrate in your window audio settings ?

Doom don't like when you have over 48000hz. If you fixed it because it was the headphone ok but everyone else who doesnt have sounds or where the music cut off sometimes its that problem. Some people have the game running faster than it should be. Same problem.

Switching to 48000hz will fix the problem in most case.

Open you're sound settings by right-clicking the volume icon and and ensure that the default device is set correctly.

if you are using a 2.5 speaker jack, it will be set as speakers.....Using HDMI you're television is shown in the list.....right click and set according to you're set up.

this has gotten me a couple of times

24000 seems to work fine though

I found a weird fix for me. It was caused by Sonic Studio II, which is a sound manager application for my on-board realtek soundcard that came with my Asus Motherboard ironically along with a free copy of Doom. The moment I close that app, Doom's audio starts working just fine.

This is what worked for me:
1) Go to sound
2) Right-Click on Speaker
3) Properties
4) Spatial Sound
5) Select Spatial Sound Format: Windows Sonic for Headphones
6) Check: Turn in 7.1 virtual surround Sound

I tried everything I was in forums, never saw this approach before
Might help :)

for some reason it will not play through the deluxe audiostrap for me. if I switch it to speakers it will play through my laptop speaks but nothing through the headset at soon as I enter the campaign

I know that thread is basically dead, but I got here while looking for resolution, so maybe it will be useful to someone as well - setting my bt headphones as default communications device seemed to fix the problem.
