Doom all upgrades?
Is it possible to get every upgrade the game has to offer. I just started and ran into a drone. It gave me a choice between 3 round burst and explosive. Well will I later be able to get 3 round burst or is that a one or the other kind of thing? Also what about all the other upgrades, can everything eventually be unlocked and maxed out on one save?

No, there's a specific amount of drones, there's enough for all upgrades. There's more Weapon tokens though, 17 more than you actually need. As for the Praetor tokens, there's only enough to max everything out so you need to get them all.

One of the runes gives you infinite ammo for your basic weapons if you have over 100 armour, so replaying levels for collectables is a walk in the park if you upgrade that rune.

There's 12 drones tho, how the hell you can get enough?
It isn't 14 UAC Field Drones needed to unlock all?

You get weapon upgrade points when you find secrets, complete challenges and beating the bosses,

I have all my weapons upgrades and have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of upgrade points left over.

there are exactly as much drones as weapon upgrades... ive done it all by one playthrough ;)
trust me u can get all things. if u miss something u can select and replay the map in menu after u reach the end of the map. all secrets, upgrades, weapon points, praetor tokens and changes u made on weapons are instandly saved and available in ur savegame...
in single player is enough stuff for all of us ;)

I noticed the Double shotty had no drones upgrades, this is why i was thinking otherwise!

I just got all upgrades finishing the runes today, you just play the missions over and look for whatever you missed. Just don't finish the game until you have all collectables and cheevos that are specific to "in a single campaign". Everything else though you can get at your leisure with each weapon mod and rune. Also once you get the item you can just quit the mission and it will be saved.

It really changes the SP kind of like having OP8 in Borderlands.

Don't know if I'm a bit out of topic or not but I'm gonna say about the weapon upgrades.

- I finished it once in Ultra Violence with everything collected and double checked every mission information to be sure. After killing last boss I have all weapons upgraded and 16 spare weapon tokens.

- I finished it again in Nightmare with everything collected and double checked every mission information to be sure. After killing last boss I have all weapons upgraded and 17 spare weapon tokens.

How can that be? If some token bugged in my first run and wasn't given to me, it must be one of those that are not shown in mission information. So it is not any token from the 3 challenges or from the secrets found or from the combat meter. What else gives tokens though? 1 for each boss but still they are not enough to upgrade all weapons. There are about 20 tokens gained from sources not shown in any kind of mission information or the dossier..

there's exactly enough drones and praetor suit tokens to max out everything in one playthrough. if you find every secret, complete every mission challenge, and earn every weapon upgrade point, you'll have extra weapon points at the end of the game after maxing everything out.

Not to beat a dead horse with a old bump.. But i've just done another playthrough getting 100% everything in a single run.

I've ended up with 17 upgrade points, whereas my old say that i completed on nightmare has 20 upgrade points... WTF

it would be interesting if they incorporated one of the weapons from multiplayer (like the Lightning Gun or the Reaper) into the Single Player campaign, so that way the extra leftover token won't go to waste.

I killed two Mancubus today; one with each tube. Grab a Quad-Damage and the Super can kill almost anything - it's a nice feeling.

For me though, the nicest surprise was the Heavy Assault Rifle. It's badly underwhelming when you first get it, but fully upgraded and Scoped it becomes a very useful and viable weapon - especially against smaller targets. I've been popping Imps in a single shot with it, from well beyond their effective range - which is surprising given the Machine Gun in every other Id game I've ever played has sucked beyond words.

I agree with this, in Doom3 the SMG was sort of a close quarters 'Hail Mary" weapon if you were cornered by a couple monsters. Also the startup weapon in Quake 3, which explains a lot.
