Doom all upgrades?
Is it possible to get every upgrade the game has to offer. I just started and ran into a drone. It gave me a choice between 3 round burst and explosive. Well will I later be able to get 3 round burst or is that a one or the other kind of thing? Also what about all the other upgrades, can everything eventually be unlocked and maxed out on one save?

I think it's like Wolfenstein where you can keep playing through the campaign multiple times and eventually unlock everything.

If you clear every level fully you will get everything, yes.

you can get them all and when fully upgraded.. my god the weapons becomes even better. case in point a fully upgraded super shotgun does the same amount of damage but only uses 1 shell per pull of the trigger ( so you get the fire twice before reloading, so effectivly doing double damage)

perfect for taking out Hellknights and the like rather quickly

I killed two Mancubus today; one with each tube. Grab a Quad-Damage and the Super can kill almost anything - it's a nice feeling.

For me though, the nicest surprise was the Heavy Assault Rifle. It's badly underwhelming when you first get it, but fully upgraded and Scoped it becomes a very useful and viable weapon - especially against smaller targets. I've been popping Imps in a single shot with it, from well beyond their effective range - which is surprising given the Machine Gun in every other Id game I've ever played has sucked beyond words.

I guess you could argue with the scope attachment for the Assault Rifle, it makes it act like a "sort-of" sniper rifle if fired in short-controlled bursts when fighting enemies that are at a distance.

Exactly. Although full-auto works once you've got Mastery, the recoil's soft enough that you can fire at nearly maximum ROF without missing much. If you've played Halo, it's very similar to the Battle rifle. If you've played CS, it's a bit like the AUG.

Another one I like? Explosive attach for the Shotgun. Not for practical purposes, but because it reminds me of my favourite gun from any FPS ever: the Evil Yellow Flak Cannon.

Yeah, the Heavy Machinegun hits this nice sweetspot. Not too powerful, not too unweildy, not too weak. Hits hard enough to be viable, causes a smidgeon of stagger from time to time. Feels really satisfying to fire generally.

Not overly surprising I guess since it IS a friggin' .50 cal. Even assuming the demons and suchlike are durable as hell (ha. ha.) and built in such a way as to have VERY different muscle/organ structure from us, it's a .50 cal heavy machinegun. You cannot reasonably expect something to take significant punishment from that and keep standing, and that's precisely how it feels. Really pleasant feeling, too.

i was worried there wouldn't be enough the drones with weapon mods but it sounds like they reappear on a second playthrough?

Yes but you cant reuse them so you have to find them all which can be a bit tricky.
No, there's a specific amount of drones, there's enough for all upgrades. There's more Weapon tokens though, 17 more than you actually need. As for the Praetor tokens, there's only enough to max everything out so you need to get them all.

One of the runes gives you infinite ammo for your basic weapons if you have over 100 armour, so replaying levels for collectables is a walk in the park if you upgrade that rune.

In what mission you find that?

Check your Runes panel. It actually shows you were to go for Locked runes.
