No sound [FIXED]
After meeting Samuel, he no longer had audio, and folowed by a reset, the game no longer had any sound except the bethesda and id logos. I have found a solution that may help some.

Things I have tried:
Playing multiplayer (sound only worked in multiplayer)
Changing primary audio device to 48000hz
Running as an administrator

But what actually worked for me, was turning off Windowed mode borderless. HOW THAT IMPACTED SOUND? I have no idea, but now everything seems to work after a reset.

Hope this is helpfull to anyone else with this problem.

[NOTE] I do not seem to have menu sounds anymore, but the rest of the in game sounds function.

This is what worked for me:
1) Go to sound
2) Right-Click on Speaker
3) Properties
4) Spatial Sound
5) Select Spatial Sound Format: Windows Sonic for Headphones
6) Check: Turn in 7.1 virtual surround Sound

I tried everything I was in forums, never saw this approach before
Might help :)

I found a weird fix for me. It was caused by Sonic Studio II, which is a sound manager application for my on-board realtek soundcard that came with my Asus Motherboard ironically along with a free copy of Doom. The moment I close that app, Doom's audio starts working just fine.

under steam settings, in broadcast, ck box- record audio from all app's. this got my broadcast sound to work. i have not unchecked this to see if in fact that was the prob.

Just in case it helps anyone else - in my case Nahimic 2 was breaking sound in Broforce, Doom and Dishonored. Killing its process was enough to fix, but I went on and uninstalled it entirely.

Hey sorry for bothering you with this stupid question, but the "sound" menu you are referring to, is it in-game or somewhere else? It's probably some place I've overlooked.
Thanks!

Sorry to Necro post. However I see no reason to start a new thread,
Here was my solution:
launch Doom,
Alt tab,
Right click sounds
Click on open sounds settings
Down the bottom under title Advanced sound options there should be an option for "app volume device preferences", click it,
Find "DOOMx64vk" and ensure that the sound bar is above 0.
This fixed it for me.
