I dond know why they do this, when i buy a game on dvd i aspect to get the whole game.
This is criminal.
While I agree with you that this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's unfurtunately becoming more and more common with better and better internet connections being installed worldwide. It's basically a way for publishers to save more money on production costs.
It is possible the {put random number here}K resolution textures the higher the resolution the bigger the file
I bought the game to play, with the expectation it would take maybe 3 or 4 hours to install from discs, instead I had to wait for the game to mostly download and that took 48 continuous hours to complete! Which took several days because I like to use my internet for MORE THAN 1 THING! and I don't like pissing off the other people using the internet in our house by slowing the internet down when their using it because unlike ID Software/Bethesda I CARE about other people.
I feel you, man. Where I live now I have a 100/100mbit fiber connection so I can download and delete games from steam whenever I want.
Where I lived before we had 20mbit line with a 200 Gb transfer limit per month. So If I wanted to download a game like doom I would use up more than 1/5'th of my entire months transfer limit. And yes, the whole family shared that limit, so it was just out of the question for me to buy games this large before.
The Devs save money, but never transfer any savings to the end user, in fact nowadays even the season passes are becoming expensive. The games are usually broken and sometimes not even as promised. Take No Man's Sky for example.
You better upgrade that plan soon mate, games are getting bigger and becoming exclusively digital purchase only so if you don't get a better plan it might become impossible to download games in a future.
