Error Message Saying Can't Connect
I just downloaded a 35GB file and when I launch the game it tells me I have an internet problem? So I said okay, let me try I few different IP besides my native. I forced a static IP to a paid VPN service and I still can't get through. I use Kaspersky, I killed it and I have the same error message.

"Doom

The server is not reachable, check your internet connection and click "Retry".

In case the problem persists, click "Next" to open the support website in the default browser."

So this brings you to a page full of text that doesn't use linebreaks so it is hard to read. Am I really going to have to wait out tech support to fix this? Please tell me someone has some ideas on this issue. I can't even see the splash screen...

Sounds like a port issue on your local router or firewall.

What ports are required by the game?
up2zero May 12, 2016 @ 9:50pm
The game is 48.7 GBs....not 35GBs. Sounds like your connection got lost during download. Maybe your ISP throttled you for a spell.
Right click on the game i the Steam client -> properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game cache.

The game is actually 52319GB, so I mispoke. Problem still exist after verification (I already had one running as that is an obvious idea plus an 850 EVO is pretty quick (400MB/s).

This is what mine looks like: http://imgur.com/l6rtHxD

Are you having any other connectivity issues? I have you rebooted your modem?
Maybe it's your firewall. Add an exception.

The game files are most certainly not 52319 gigabytes.

It sounds to me like you don't know what you are doing perhaps stick to console gaming?

As for the ports needed you can either set an option in your firewall (on windows 7 and above) to allow a game through, or you may have a gaming setting in your local router. I do not know the ports used by the game but a simple Google search should provide the answer

What is it with yall and looking for typos? I am so sorry I missed the decimal after the 52, blow me. You are talking to someone who has never owned a console system in their life and has been playing PC games since before dial up even existed...

I got it all working btw..

Helpful hint for anyone who is crashing at the ID splashscreen, turn off Steam Overlay and/or any overlay using software like FRAPS or MSI Afterburner.

Hey guys same here:
I can't even start the game because of problems with the server if somebody got a answer pls tell us thank you!! ! :)

I had the problem that I've used a personal DNS server and some domains are not listed there for security reasons and when I changed the dns of my machine to google's it worked immediatly ... Try to change DNS and maybe some router options could not be wrong if you do that .... Greets! !! :):) Love the game!!

For me Kaspersky's Application Control was also causing the crash at the ID splash screen. I haven't found a way around disabling that entire component in order to play. I thought it was the Steam overlay causing these problems, but it seems I was wrong.

If anyone has Kaspersky and has figured out exactly what permissions we need to enable please let me know. I literally turned everything I could to trusted and not to monitor the app, still crashes unless I turn off App Control.

Ideas?

Also sorry I couldn't be of more help on the connection issue, mine just started working without any changes.
