Difficulty Completion Unlock; Roguelike Modes: New Monsters and Weapons
Oh dear. Roguelikes. Everyone knows em.

Well, as it so stands, DOOM has two of them to some extent.

Doom: The Roguelike, it's own individual game (DoomRL) and DoomRL Arsenal, a mod based off of this game for DOOM Itself.

Nonetheless, a fitting reward for completing Ultra Nightmare would be an even moreso difficult mode ("Unliving Hell?") of Roguelike mode- spurning up the item and monster randomizers. What was once an unsuspecting pinky demon before- is now a nightmarish shoggoth that will break your skull in.

These are usually variants of the original monsters- usually with more health and damage- but also a diffrent kit- like we see with Classic Doom's "Bruiser Brothers", "Cybarons", Arachnophytes, and so on. What was once your beloved SSG is now a unexpected refractory beam cannon. (Basically- think the Prism Tank of RA2- BUT IN A GUN.)

By replaying the game and completing certain tasks in the game- you unlock new toys to play with. This is the constant lure and appeal of Roguelikes- you may die a whole ♥♥♥♥ton- but hey, you're slowly making progress- and if you're not you will at least eventually run into a new toy to play with that will rock your world and make you laugh your head off.

Because getting that ♥♥♥♥ing amazing item early on can be a real power trip.

Try out classic DOOM with DRLA.- namely on the harder difficulties. Some of the enemies can be a real... shocker. And many are unique in behavior.
