I'm an editor actually and I honestly don't really research into what each indivuals background is for the choice of the song or band. I just pick the music that works with what I'm buiding pay the roayalties etc and move on. Like a teaser or something. I don't investigate the band or anything, but that's probably a good idea now that I at least do some research now. Just an oversight I'm sure.
Is it possible that the band won't even get money from it? I have heard of deals where a band sells their songs to a media group for 1 lump sum, and then that media group can sell the rights of the song to others, like Bethesda for this game.
As to your other comment, id software is making the single player game, and Bethesda hired 1 other developer to develop the MP and another developer to develop Snapmap. Doesn't look like a licensed title at all.
as to the last bit, I thought ID dissolved? the last doom being their final doom/game all together? when did they reform their team?/could have sworn it was their last game as a development team

sorry bethesda.
They never were dissolved as a developer company. id software was bought by Bethesda some years ago. Tim Willits is the creative directior of id software and he joined id software in 1995 and became one of the co-owners of id software. There are other developers that have been with id software for years, though the big names of id software have left the company and are doing other endeavors. After Doom 3 they went on and created Rage, after Rage and during the development of the first Doom 4 game John Carmak left id software to work on Occulus Rift.
word, I used to listen to them in the early 2000s.
