Got boots, still can't jump high enough

I've played through once and I'm going back through trying to get 100%, but there are a couple of places where I can't seem to make the jumps, no matter how many times I try. One is in Argent Tower where you have to jump from the subway car to the ledge to get the Orangeguy. The other is in the Advanced Research Complex where you jump from a spire to a little platform next to some pipes to get to the retro lever. The YouTube video makes both of these look easy, but I'm not even getting close. Before you tell me that maybe I shouldn't suck, I'll just interject that suckiness doesn't have anything to do with it. I've seen other commenters that have the same problem, but they never get answers. I can make every other jump in the game, no problem. Could this be a problem with my controller? It's kind of a beater, but it still seems to work.

If it helps; I made those jumps with a five year old 360 controller that rotates left slowly.
I also managed those jumps with a brand new XBOne controller.

but I died with the Steam controller.

The first jump isn't even long, so not sure how you manage to not be able to do it. Perhaps you're trying it from the wrong place? Check this video:

The second is probably the longest jump in the entire game. I have no idea why you can't make it so not much help regarding it.

It'd be best if you could record your attempt so we can see how far you're traveling in case there's something wrong with how the game is reacting to your inputs as well as so we can see where you're trying to jump from.

For anyone (like me) who had trouble making the Longest jump to the secret lever in Advanced Research Complex.
I have found a workaround:
Carefully jump on the metal rail at the other side of the pipe and walk slowly around.

Can you not jump around the metal pipe with the Air Control rune?

In the Advanced Research Complex, I eventually landed on a tiny ledge just below the platform, and was able to jump up to it. Still no luck in Argent Tower.

You're not alone. I have a jump that is not happening. I get high enough but he won't grab the edge. Over and over. I move around, trying different starting points but without success. I'll probably get it eventually but it is frustrating. I have good equipment so it's not that. I may end up leaving it for some months if it gets too stupid.

That jump at Argent Tower is not big. Certainly bigger than a single jump, but with double it shouldn't be a big hurdle. You need to practice timing a bit and you will get it.

At Advanced Research Complex, I have just found an alternate way 2 days ago, which doesn't involve the "longest" jump. Though I pulled it off in Arcade Mode, and I'm not sure if game physics is 100% the same in Campaign, but I'll give it a try and post a video.

Yeah, I tried this one too. Died at it, for me even the long jump from the top of the rock seemed less risky.

Figured it out. You are facing the wrong way. Simply turn around and try it again. I got it the first time.
