Doom press space bar to continue glitch?

Has anyone else been having this glitch? You'll open up doom, everything normal at first... Suddenly, a wild glitch occurs! Ok, so what happens is I start up my game, select the campaign, and at the part it says press space bar to continue, it won't let me continue. The screen goes black after pressing space bar and all that's left is how much it's loaded of the game, hints down the bottom and the flashing thing that says [Press space bar to continue]... So this means I cannot start my game.

Please, if you know how to solve this... PLEASE HELP ME! It would be REALLY appreciated!

EDIT: I started a new campaign to see if it works with another campaign... And it does! Tested the other one again to see if it works, but unfortunately it doesn't. If it helps, I'm on the argent energy tower mission, and I only recently went into hell.

If it helps: I don't have this glitch, never. Maybe it's your pc config?
But as I can see, u playing DOOM right now, so what?

Playing multiplayer. And I had been playing DOOM for about 30 hours and then this just randomly happens...

i bet u have rebind the jump key (default spacebar) to another key :)

there are three solutions:

1. u set the key back to default
2. alt-tab out and back in after pressing space and/or ur jump key when u have to press the key to continue
3. add "+com_skipKeyPressOnLoadScreens 1" (without ") to launchoptions for doom in steam (rightclick doom in ur library -> launch options) and u dont have to press a key there anymore

I just started having this glitch today, and I happen to be on the argent facility mission. I now cannot continue from that save. If I were to hazard a guess at what's going on, it's either that the save file can somehow get corrupted and has in our cases (if so, probably occurs during cloud synch), or certain checkpoints are buggy and can't be resumed from correctly.

I definitely haven't changed key bindings since I set things up before playing at all.

Add this to launch options, hopefully will help (it just disbale the need of pressing the key when you load a map)

Thanks but that didn't resolve it, just removed the Press Space to Continue message. Game tried to load level but got stuck at 92% :/

Maybe you messed with options or something.
Easy common solve: reboot the system
Else just delete the doomconfig.local in your c:/users/yourname/saved games/id software/doom/base (it won't delete your saves so np) and retry

Same here for 92%!

Hadn't changed any options at all. Literally played it fine the day before, got to a checkpoint, quit the game normally using the game's menus, started it up the next day and had the problem. No settings adjusted in the meantime.

Tried reboot, didn't change it.

Deleted config.local, didn't change it.

I also notice that without the skip command, after pressing space to continue when prompted to do so, and it trying to load the save, it is also 92% that the number gets to before the screen goes mostly black with the Press Space to Continue message appearing again (and flashing faster than it does on the first occasion). At that point nothing can be done other than ctrl-alt-del and closing the game from the task manager.

EDIT: Also tried verifying cache, didn't change it. Tried waiting longer in case anything eventually happened - the hints keep cycling at the bottom of the screen but nothing else. Task manager doesn't list the game as not responding, but after alt-tabbing out in this state, the game can't be tabbed back into.

I'm unsure if you can do this during a loading screen, but try opening the game console (Tilda key, left of the number 1 on the Keyboard) and see if it says anything relevant to the hang.

Just gave it a go, could open the console right up to when pressing Continue from the campaign menu, but once you press that and it begins loading, the tilde key no longer opens the console - same once the game thinks it's loaded and prompts the player to press space to continue, no console availability.

Look. Every forums site I visited with my problem, they always said the same answer that didn't work, or people flat out didn't know. I suggest you start a new campaign. The sooner you start a new campaign, the sooner you'll get past where you were in the story. At least, it's what I did.
