Vulkan screen flickering / graphic bug in Multiplayer
Patterns of white / green flashy dots randomly occur when looking around / walking in DOOM Multiplayer under Vulkan mode (the issue also appears in some of the intense battle scenes with large amount of lights, effects). Please check this video capture to get what I mean: https://youtu.be/i-2NBpjIJL0
I mention that the described issue does not manifest when the game runs under OpenGL mode and neither in Campaign (single-player) under Vulkan mode.

Driver info: AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.8.1 and 16.7.3
Vulkan Run Time Libraries: 1.0.17.0

My Video settings:
Window Mode: Full Screen
AR: 16:9
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Vertical Sync: Off
AA: TSSAA (8x)
FOV: 120
The Advanced settings are a mix of Ultra (90%) and High (10%).

My specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz
MB: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P (F5 BIOS)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2666MHz
VGA: Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 380 4G D5
Storage: Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 250GB
OS: MS Windows 10 Pro x64 (1607 - Build 14393.51)

Did anyone else notice this issue?

Does turning VSync on improve it at all? It might be an artifact from screen tearing.

I didn't see any improvement with VSync enabled. To me it looks more like a software issue caused by drivers / VulkanRT.

hey dude.

a common problem that AMD knows about, i filed a report about it a few weeks ago and i suggest you do the same so they know.

Hey TERMiNAL,
Thanks for backing me up here! I already filed the report to AMD and also to Bethesda at the same time with this thread. A guy from Bethesda / DOOM Support Team already checked back advising me to verify integrity of game cache via Steam. I'm currently doing this and will see what happens next... probably nothing will change until a new updated driver / patch pops up in the next days / weeks.
LE: Nothing changed after verifying the game cache, so I guess we'll have to wait for AMD / Bethesda to come up with a fix.

Having the same problem with the same GPU

first thought that my GPU was broken or something (OC to 1150 Mhz and memory to 1500mhz mv +40) temps where around 70 C (40 - 45 over delta).

I am having this issue too. I have the same CPU, and I am using an AMD GPU. (RX 480 8Gb)
If you use OpenGL4.5, the game doesn't flicker. But, if you have shadow quality at nightmare, or AA at x16, you'll have to turn those settings down one so you don't constantly drop 10-15 fps. I hope this issue is fixed soon.

Guys, sadly the issue was not ironed out in Crimson 16.8.2 that was released yesterday.
At the time I started this thread I also filled out the report here: http://www.amd.com/report
If you people also bring the issue to their attention maybe it will make a difference in the future Crimson releases. Just sayin'...

Same problem with the RX 480.

Have a fix, you must just change the aa from 8X TSAA to SMAA
You only lose two to three fps still over 95fps

Thanks for the tip, but I think they just nailed it in Crimson 16.9.1 / Vulkan RT 1.0.21 (released yesterday). After this update I've managed to play flicker-free for more than an hour (without modifying any of the settings from OP).
Anyways, I'll keep in mind your advice if the issue comes back sometime down the line.

Hi there,

I just marked the post as solved because after AMD released the new Crimson 16.9.1 Hotfix (with Vulkan RT 1.0.21) this is not an issue anymore.
Special thanks to all of you Doomers for your reports and workarounds!

Regards.

I just wanted to chime in that following Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.1 (w/ Vulkan Driver 1.4.0 and Vulkan API 1.0.30) release the bug came back... bummer!
I already filled out the report to AMD via http://www.amd.com/report and downgraded back to the previous stable version Crimson 16.11.5.

Indeed, changing the in-game AA to any other setting besides 'TSSAA (8TX)' fixes the flickering for the price of ~10 fps less.

Nice job NicKelRO for updating us. I just updated to ReLive too and find this flicker. Thought my card going to fry again.
Thanks to BlackIronWolf solution too, the problem is temporarily fixed. :B1:

I'll follow the thread for any update.

You're welcome, now we'll have to wait for Khronos to fix the issue in their new Vulkan Driver and then hopefully AMD will integrate the patched driver quickly in the upcoming Crimson ReLive updates (16.12.x, 17.1.x...). How long will it take remains to be seen.
