Sorry, Christianity ain’t that important that one would actually make a game for them. :)
but yet, you CAN see some upside-down crosses when riding the stone elevator in "Doom 3", when heading towards the Cyberdemon boss fight.
This is either lazy art direction, or an intended hint to give a better feeling for the universe.
id's current main project is a reboot of Super 3D Noah's Ark
I think that's one of the reasons why a game like Doom and Diablo, never would make too many refrences to the Bible. It would endanger all our health bars...
Satan is a whole other issue, as any sort of demon leader has never been alluded to in Doom, apart from possibly the original Icon of Sin, which was just sort of a really big demon and never seemed to have anything going for it past that. There's definitely a demon caste system in this one, though, and we had that creepy disembodied voice guy, so who knows?
Hell, as referenced in DOOM, is not an abstract environment that they made up, it's a concept familiar to everyone (even though the concept is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). So why do they steer away from it to make up all their own monsters, when the biggest boss of all is perhaps the most well known character of all time, Satan. And yes why aren't angels referenced?
I guess the obvious answer is that it would just be too controversial and (especially in the US), too diversive.
Infact one of the most brilliant design decisions made by the original team was not to use human characters as the enemies (unlike in Wolfenstein 3D), but use abstract, made up and obviously not real characters. So when we bludgeon them to smithereens we don't feel bad about it.
I don't know about you but I feel distinctly uneasy about games like Battlefield 1 that make a point about depicting your enemies (fellow humans), as realistically as possible... that just seems sick to me and I'm surprised there isn't a backlash against it.
WOW, you're so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ edgy and cool. I wish I was as cool and smart as you!
