umm, no. If you have the game patched and have the proper drivers, that is all you need.
No you don't.
The drivers I downloaded from Nvidia.com 368.22 didn't auto install vulkan. I had to manually go into c:\nvidia and under Display.driver in the driver folder and run VulkanRT-Installer.exe and then vulkan worked just fine.
Well did you check the Vulkan API checkbox in the installation ? The option is there. If you did click it and it didnt install... thats not normal. Not saying it cant happen tho :P
I never downloaded anything extra, nor did I have to select any Vulkan API checkbox during install. After the game patch came out I just started the game up and selected Vulkan in the advanced options and it worked. On 2 different computers. One with a 970 and one with a 980Ti. 368.69 drivers.
I don't remember. I usually do a custom install and so I would have unchecked geforce experience and could have unchecked vulkan, however, unlikely because I uninstalled the drivers for vulkan support but had nothing to test vulkan with till a few days ago when I purchased Doom. I did install the drivers months ago though. I did help one other person that didn't have vulkan installed with there drivers either, so who knows.
I always run each Nvidia drivers through a list of programs and games after install because some drivers will crash my system I quickly remove bum drivers and reinstall the last stable driver because 24/7 stability is more important than a few extra fps. People are even reporting Doom crashing with and without vulkan, I've not experienced anything of the sort with 368.22. I did get my guy stuck on a vent and had to reload the game. Unlike most people I also do system backups to avoid windows corruption. Five minutes to restore a backup is awesome!
