DOOM
Extremely long startup loading time
Sometimes it takes like 2-3 full minutes to load the game. Loading times for missions is kind of OK, but startup loading time is just ridiculous. I only experience this with this game. Other games have adequate loading times.

I used defraggler on doom folder, but the game still loads super slow.

Any fix for this? I have an SSD, but it's only 120 GB and I don't have enough space for DOOM.

I remember when playing the Beta there was a known issue with nVidia cards and the intro videos. Does this apply to you? I use a GTX 980 and the first time I went through the intros it was quite slow. After that it played fine. Also, have you tried the following launch command?

+com_skipIntroVideo 1

I have R9 290 and i5 2500k @ 4.2 CPU. The command line improved the loading time by a little bit, but it's still slow.

Thanks for the info, by the way. Any other ideas will be appreciated.

SSD is the only way, then it's about 20 seconds.

I effectively have a 120GB SSD too (2 x 60GB SSDs in raid 0). I have windows 10 taking only 22GB, so I can squeeze doom on there with steam mover.

It's faster then 20 seconds on my 7200 rpm 3 years old. It's not only the drive speed that make a game load faster.

When i load my game the first time it takes around 15 seconds to load it and when i reload when i die its faster.

From my 7200 rpm samsung HDD, it's like at least a minute, maybe 2. BTW, I'm talking about from launching the game from steam to getting into a level. Not just from the menu to the level (yeah, that's pretty quick, even on a HDD)

Another guy on this forum has a proper hardware raid 0 SSD setup, and he says it's 17-20 seconds as well

It seems in the near future, having a SSD as a main HD will be mandatory.

Well it will be anyway. solid state memory really is coming into its own now. You'll be able to get a 1TB SSD for pretty cheap soon, then HDD = finished

i think i have a solution for this problem that doubles the speed of loading the game, and sometimes it may triples or even quadruples the speed. i know that my answer is a little bit too late, but i believe that there are still some people facing the same problem these days. now, moving to the solution. all what you have to do is simply reinstall the game in the C partition. apparently, C partition is the fastest read and write partition in your hard drive, and by moving the game to it, the game benefits from this speed and loads faster. you will be amazed by the results! good luck to you all, and please share your experience with us and tell us whether this solution works with you or not.
