Thanks for the info, by the way. Any other ideas will be appreciated.
I effectively have a 120GB SSD too (2 x 60GB SSDs in raid 0). I have windows 10 taking only 22GB, so I can squeeze doom on there with steam mover.
It's faster then 20 seconds on my 7200 rpm 3 years old. It's not only the drive speed that make a game load faster.
When i load my game the first time it takes around 15 seconds to load it and when i reload when i die its faster.
From my 7200 rpm samsung HDD, it's like at least a minute, maybe 2. BTW, I'm talking about from launching the game from steam to getting into a level. Not just from the menu to the level (yeah, that's pretty quick, even on a HDD)
Another guy on this forum has a proper hardware raid 0 SSD setup, and he says it's 17-20 seconds as well
Well it will be anyway. solid state memory really is coming into its own now. You'll be able to get a 1TB SSD for pretty cheap soon, then HDD = finished
