the monitor i'm currently using is 1920x1080
i was using a 1440x900 monitor before and i changed doom settings to 1440x900
so now when i try using 1920x1080 monitor the settings don't automatically change resolution and it is still 1440x900 and for some reason and it just crashes
+r_initalMonitor -1 +r_initalModeHeight 1080 +r_initialModeWidth 1920 +r_mode -2
if doom is launching now then change something in the settings and save the settings.
exit doom and delete the commands from launch options...
yes but he dont know what value he have to use with r_mode because it depends on his supported resolutions...
anyone know if this could be causing the crashes?
8192mb ram
intel core i5-6402p cpu @ 2.80ghz
nvidia geforce gtx 960
ok this should work...
hm, try to find and install drivers for ur monitor. maybe windows dont have fully compatible drivers. also reinstalling (the latest) graphics drivers would be a good idea ;)
btw, on which graphic settings do u play the game?
check the temperature of the gpu while playing... just a possibility ;)
...and only the game is crashing or the system? crash to desktop? freeze? blue screen?
Ermm... maybe not quite true...
If you have (for instance) TWO monitors connected to a PC, some games will crash if its (auto)-set to Spread across monitors (such as for a flight sim [e.g. Flight School]) when the monitors are set to run at different different resolutions....
whereby .... if you have a 720p monitor using the Intel CPU~GPU to run it (via HDMI), and your main GPU to run your main monitor at 1080p (for instance) via DVi...
Then your game is trying to run your PC at two resolutions for one game instruction set: and where it tries to run both monitors at different resolutions via different GPU settings, the corresponding internal feedback to the CPU, and to the HDMI to sound can blow a silicon-lottery-fuse.
In fact, it can practically destroy your PC if the game coding is not done right (does not include [idiot-proof] safety aspects to prevent such issues).
P.S.
When Windows 8 was released in Asia, every Windows 7 Toshiba i7 laptop which was upgraded to Windows 8 (release version) ALL gave an IMMEDIATE BSoD whenever the Number keypad was pressed.
Weeks later it was fixed, but thousands of people were more than a little upset about it.
So, if a Keypad press can cause a Windows crash, so can a glitch code to a monitor. but its harder for a single one..
thats the thing we have to figure out at this point. is it software or hardware related issue.
but he only use one monitor so i think we can forget the different resolution problems ;)
it could be also a overheating problem because of the higher resolution. then he just have to clean the fans mabye ^^ who knows...
