DOOM
Hell Razer too weak(?)
After playing this game for 67 hours, testing stuff with Demons and stuff like that, I've noticed how weak Hell Razers are.

I really like the idea behind them, I especially like their design, but it seems like they're way too weak. They cannot for some reason aim when they fire lazer, and their lazer isn't that powerful actually. I've died to them only 1 time, and it was by 4 of them on Nightmare when I was escaping from multiple Hell Knights and Cacodemon with half of my HP lost.

Even Possesed have killed me more times than Hell Razer, which is pretty weird.

In my opinion, adding the ability to aim when they shoot their lazer to them would make them much more dangerous and therefore much funnier and challenging to kill.

What do you guys thing? Are Hell Razers too weak and need some kind of a buff or are their current stats good in your opinion?

Yup, they are weak, stupid, sluggish and lackadaisical. Basically the laughing stock of the demon world.

Personally, I think the idea behind a Hell Razer is to interfere with your movement when you're fighting someone else. Because their lasers can hit from across the room, they can make you move or jump over them while you're in the middle of something else.

But, that said, you're right that the damage they do is negligable and easily tanked, so it's more bark than bite.

I don't think they are meant to be strong. They are more meant to prevent you moving in X direction and in numbers they do lock you down a bit, but at the same time. The beam seem too weak to be taken seriously. Even on the highest default, accessible difficulty.

It really is a shame, given that the Hell Razer is one of the few truly "new" Demons in the game, and they're kind of pathetic.I feel way more threatened by groups of Possessed Soldiers, because their Plasma Rifles hit surprisingly hard and their charged shot can really catch you off guard in more confined areas. I'm pretty sure most of my deaths in Classic maps are from the Soldiers all spamming shots down hallways and the lack of vertical movement in those maps makes it way more tricky to dodge them all.

I've found that Hell Razers really only hurt if you're standing still or not paying attention and focusing too much on one other demon. They like to hang back and whittle your health from a distance. Up close they're so much shotgun fodder that it's not funny.

And yes, Possessed Soldiers are a pain, especially on classic maps. If you don't get the secret area to the rocket launcher and chaingun as soon as you can on Nuclear Plant you don't get too far.

They've never caused me that kind of a problem. You can see when/where they shoot (When they start shooting, there's a some kind of a "aiming lazer" which tells where Hell Razer is going to shoot, similliar to Reveneant's one) and just one shotgun shot is enough to interrupt their lazer shooting.

They also seems to spent their running in Arena's borders to find a good place to shoot, but since you pretty much keep moving everywhere on Arena, they just keep running and you can just kill them while you run away from bigger Demons.

Even if you get stand still (for example when you circle around Baron of Hell while shooting it) their lazer makes so little damage, especially with armor. And you can just dodge it if you notice their shooting, since they can only shoot at one direction.

basically this. the lasers act more or less like obstacles in the arenas. that's really the only threat these enemies pose. i suppose you could get whacked by one of them if you got too close.

Their AI and mobility needs an upgrade. I find them running around aimlessly, their targeting is piss poor, or they're using their weaker attacks 95% of the time. That said, though, in the rare chance they do happen to hit you with that charged beam attack, it hurts like hell, at least on nightmare difficulty. Frankly Possessed Security dudes pack a bigger punch with their spam tactics and those mini orange BFG shots they do.

If you ask me, the weakest of the mid tier enemies are the revs. I just don't fear them at all and they're easy to evade. Revs used to be one of the higher threat enemies in old DOOM. In DOOM '16 they're practically a non-factor.
