Best Settings for Radeon 7870 2gb?
I have XFIRE Radeon 7870's 2GB, using latest Crimson drivers 16.6.1, but I know DOOM using OpenGL does not take advantadge of the second card, but no matter what I do I cant seem to get a setting for the game that seems acceptable to be able to progress. My other specs include

AMD FX 8350
16GB DDR3 RAM
1TB HD

Would like to know how well the game runs/looks with the AMD Radeon HD 7870, any thoughts? I bought the game many months ago holding out for a new GPU but it looks like a new GPU is still atleast 6months away for me, so want to know if its worth playing the game with this GPU.

Are you using Vulkan or OpenGL?

This was before the release of Vulkan Support, and now with latest patch and Crimson 16.7.1 and later I was able to scale the resolution to 80% and get 45+ fps and was able to finish the game.

Using Vulkan you should have more then 45 fps. I had 45 fps in opengl. Are you playing at high ?

I don't think the HD7870 supports vulkan. So you are playing at high with 45fps? what resolution?

If I'm not wrong DOOM separate rendering and screen resolution (aka you can have max screen resolution while having very low rendering) but if the diference is too big between them it is possible the game to look pixelated (rendering resolution is at what resolution your gpu will render the game so as long as you have ok fps you can theoriticaly set it to 1440p in screen resolution without performance issue)

my resolution was set to 1920x1080, and the resolution scale was set to 80%, also using Vulkan all other settings at medium

Intel integrated graphics will not run Doom.
I gave up trying to play Doom on our HD 7xxx series GPU. The R9 2xx series were a bit "meh" also. A swift upgrade to some affordable RX480 and R9 390 and the game became a different animal.

HD 7xxx series with 2GB would stutter, require low details and look terrible. Nothing would improve it. Other games would look better and play better.

RX 480 is nice and smooth on full details. No problems.

R9 390 is amazing with Nightmare detail settings, Vulkan stability and insane framerates. GLORIOUS! UNSTOPPABLE! BLOODBATH!

If you're serious about playing Doom; you might need to consider an upgrade for the best experience.

Game runs great on my HD7870. No issues as well btw the RX470 is almost equal to the HD7870. Notice i said 470 NOT 480.

Im playing at medium and have x8 AA or what ever that other on is. I have not noticed any sturrering or frame rate drops.

Before we get the Vulkan update i was playing with a 7870 at medium detail between 40 and 70 fps depending on the area. With vulkan you can play at high details with a 7870 or stay medium and have a constant 60 fps.

It's enough to play this game.
