FATAL ERROR: Failed to create XAudio2 engine. Try installing the latest DirectX.

Hi
Does anyone have a clue how to solve this? Everytime i go to start up DOOM i get the loading circle then it launches to a black screen and just sits there. When i close it the DOOM console is saying

"FATAL ERROR: Failed to create XAudio2 engine. Try installing the latest DirectX."

Now how do i install the latest direcx when i'm running windows 10? It says it's built in and it is only updated via windows update which is telling me i'm up to date etc. as far as i'm aware you can't download the seperate directx runtime like you could with previous windows versions and install and re install whenever.

I've went into "program files/ steam/ steamapps/common/DOOM/commonredist/directx"
and ran the directx setup from there but still having the same issue.

My sound drivers on the mobo are all up to date.

Every other game works fine, just this one i'm having issues with.

Any help would be great. cheers!

ASUS maximus ranger vii
i5- 4690k
8GB ram.

When i try that all it says is "a newer or equivalent version of directx is already installed "

Did anyone ever find a solution to this? Bethesda refused to give me support because my 2gb video card reported as 1969mb and 2gb is the minimum. I have a new 8gb card now so they won't be able to use that excuse but I still don't have much confidence.

I kept trying to mess around with directx and found this one.

I could swear i had tried this before and nothing happened, but this time it installed a couple of files and now DOOM works fine, no more error at startup.
FYI wolfenstein the new order also works now as i was getting the exact same error with that game too.
Give it a try and see if it works for you.
