Does this game have a story?

theres tonnes of information about this game pretty much everywhere

theres a vague story, but the game is not reliant on it in the "modern sense"

There is a lot of backstory, but the story in itself is very simplistic. Hell portals were open, you were awakened, kill demons, close portals.

Don't get it for the story. But the gameplay is glorious though.

It goes, "once upon a time there was a space marine who killed hoards of zombie demons etc, the end".

It does have story, which you can already find being discussed in forums (it is still incomplete). Scattered throughout the maps are dozens of data logs which will deepen the lore associated with the monsters, maps and player. Plus, it is optional, if you don't want story you can just ignore them.

But note that it is not based on dialogue / conversation. The game has speaking characters, but all communication is one-way. Story is based on plot events and passive text that explains it.

2.2k hours, Jesus. I can't even imagine liking a game that much. I think my record game time was about 200 hours.

There's a story trying to happen, but the main character refuses to have anything to do with it and kills everything.

If you really think the first lvl is considered "The best part" of the game you are wrong.

The game gets so much better and faster and harder later.

The first lvl is like a tutorial.

If you're asking if the story is as good as Doom 3, then no, definitely not. If you're asking if there simply is one.... yeah, and it's alright.

It does feel like they cut some of the story out of it, though. There's obviously some weirdo lore going on in the background but you don't really get to delve too far into it. The graphcis and gameplay easily make up for it though.

I've got more than 10k hours in League since I've been playing since S1 which was back in 09. When you play with friends, those games can be nice time sinks. Especially when matches can take up to an hour.


But to the OP, like everyone else said, it has a story. You're a marine closing portals the scientists felt the need to open and felt that it was worth what was brought in the end.

Yeah, I can imagine that. I mean, I wasn't judging, as a gamer I can relate, I just never played that much of a game and since I tend to like solo experiences I never experienced that.

I played the demo: ingame i woke up and ♥♥♥♥ happened!
Actually I hardly know what I was fighting in the first place... demonic aliens???

I did like the demo though!
