Anyone wish doom was scary?

ya i kinda missed the flashlight and pitch black corridors. as this doom is about as scary as a box full of kitties. and for a game where your fighting undead and demons. you think it would least make me feel a bit tense.

People forget that it is all parts of doom that made doom, just like all parts of planetside make planetside, and all parts of EDF make EDF. You cannot have the same charm without it, as people have mentally associated it together; it is also part of the formula. They should of took the original designs of the monsters and then just drew ontop of them for the new concepts for monsters. This is done constantly with the modding community and is usually also done with Frankenspriting.

NewDoom lacks the character of it's predecessors.

Infact, DOOM ditched most of it's metal immidiately after E2M1 for it's creepy, droning overtones in the music being primary. and then eventually picks it back up towards the end of the game as you're tearing hell a new one.

I don't miss horror in Doom at all. Doom was, from the very beginning, a fast, adrenaline-filled game about killing fighting several deamons at once in fast-paced combat. Not that Doom 3 was bad, but it wasn't, well Doom.

I play Doom to feel like a demon slaying badass without any trace of fear which is what this game delivered. Doom 3's cheap jump scares to attempt to spook the player is very contradicting to the franchise. If i wanted a horror game, I'd play Amnesia or Slender where you are completely vulnerable as you have no access to any weaponry.

Doom was campy horror, it wasn't meant to be truly scary. Which is why Doom 3 was so bad, the made they shooting part boring, with terrible weapons and the game ultimately wasn't scary at all. Even with the stupid flashlight decision.

Na, if i wanted to i could write properly. I just dont care to. Why should i waist my own time proof reading, spell checking and using correct grammar. When i can just type out a easy counter argument without even bothering to use a third party spellcheck.

Still if this did not bother you. Then why did you even make the comment? Anyone who knows anything about memory or intelligence. knows that spelling has nothing to do with intelligence. It is all pure memory. And memory differs from person to person.

So if you view that correct grammar as the only way to views a person opinion. Then you fail to understand the point that person was making. Because this is not a 6th grade writing assignment, This is a steam forum. And only people who lack an decisive argument use the grammar Nazi argument.

The atmospheric horror is what doom possessed, Doom 3 tried to push non-atmospheric a little hard on the player.

Some people also apperantly only know Doom 2. Now go play that without using the SSG once. See the diffrence. Go play doom 1, it had no ssg, now swap them. There will be a severe diffrence.

Grammar is the LEAST I can expect of someone to take him seriously. Also, my main issue isn't with your grammar, which, is truly appalling, but that you lack proper arguments to back your points.
