i despice the idea of doom slayer. im more ok with marine whos objective is just survive the demon invasion and not some demi god guy who just like rip and tearing and it feel more like its personal than just cold blooded killing demons to get away and i think he is toooooooo overpowered as ♥♥♥♥

Well you see even if the Doomslayer isn't literally the same character as doomguy he still symbolically is, and so as a player in Doom 16 you're treated as a legend because of what you did in the previous doom games.

Eh. I like both. The first one was damn cool, but you couldn't know much about him unless you read the lore. Doom Slayer, you'd know a lot about just from how he did ♥♥♥♥. He is basically the personification of revenge, as an unstoppable force of everything. The man LITERALLY counted down from infinity. He's basically ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Chuck Norris in a suit.

That's sort of the point. The Doomguy isn't some legendary superhero archetype you're roleplaying as, he's YOU, stuffed in the middle of a demon invasion, kicking ass and surviving impossible odds by the skin of his teeth.

Well it's nice to know others feel this way too.

I don't think we needed a Kratos with guns. It's more impressive for an ordinary person (the player) to rise up and destroy the demons of hell than for Superman to do so.

I don't hate the reboot lore or anything (it's pretty interesting) but I hope after we get a few games from this story they eventually reboot the whole thing again and go back to the protagonist just being "the marine."

Doom 3 was a good horror game in it's own right, but it wasn't DOOM. DOOM is an action game where standing still should always result in death, Doom 3 was a horror game where running in guns blazing resulted in death. Having to choose between the torch or your gun was a fantastic idea, they just shouldn't have called it DOOM.
