Corrupted Save Game

Came to my game after a couple of hours and suddenly it is corrupt. Is there any fix or am I doomed?

your better off deleting the file and starting new. if your using the dev mode from the command line then it to will corrupt your saves. turn off dev mode and try again.

Best of luck I have been looking for days :( This is BS! "The corrupted save file issue is posted every day. Pick your thread and read." Yet not 1 single thread actually work?

Mine starts with "The save file appears to be damaged and cannot be loaded." then it says it's corrupt, then if want u can type in devmode_enable 1 but then you can't go onliine with it. So while it fixes the issue, it's bandaid fix.

I have deleted the whole folder, I have done everything including unistalling and reinstalling.

My game is not on my C drive, many people mention the "savegame" folder I do not have a "savegame" folder unless they meant "savegame.user" Actually if I can confirm that the actual name of the save folder is "savegame" and not "savegame.user"?

A work around to uninstall, is to remove your user name from the doom file, the game will start new. but you HAVE to remove the corupted file no matter what.

I did uninstall and it keeps happening. However what file are you referencing? I am sooooo frustrated now, it's now become an obsession to fix this. Seriously I have unistalled twice, and doing it a 3rd time now.

look on C drv for saved games, under idsoftware you will find your profile. it saved me hours of tring to reinstall.

I wish I knew how I fixed it, after reinstalling twice, and deleting all sorts of folders, sub directories and all! I finally uninstalled and reinstalled for the 3rd time. I chose a different folder, and my jaw dropped when my game suggested I continue where I left off. It was a brand new install, my game is exactly how I left it 3 days ago before all this started. Thanks Thumper, you may not have had the answer but a few things you said made me look in another direction with regards to fixing this. So you get full credit!

Ok so I just realized what the problem was. As many have said you should make a point of saving you doom folder every now and then. So since I had it working again I decided to go move a copy of my saved games. I could not find the right patch on my PC. After about a minute I found the folder for saved games. I also took note that it was on my G: drive 1 terabyte old drive. However keeps many thing stored.

Anyway, so it was and is on my G: drive, I had no idea it was there. What I just remember is the a couple of days ago I notice my G: drive not showing up? I checked the back, and adapter had been disconnected from my external G: drive! So the whole time my game was not finding the saved file because of it was disconnected.

So if your saved game is on a detachable drive make sure that common sense tells you it need to be plugged in to be read  My common sense was nowhere to be found …sigh
So the problem was between the chair and keyboard :/

the savegame files are stored in ur windows user profile folder
C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM\base
in the folder savegame.user, there is a folder named like ur steam id
unless u did change ur windows user profile location it have to be there

I though dev mode was cool when I thought I had no choice, and scouring the internet to find a fix lead to God mode, which was fun for 5 minutes, no fear , no excitement , dull game Imo. I am happy I found the fix. Gawd I suck a 1st person shooters lol
