Blue screen on loading menu
I have wanted to play DOOM again after not playing it for some time. game worked flawlessly before but not i get a BSOD every time i try to play. The BSOD happens EVERY time when the menu loads to "99%"

Blue screen info below

Stop Code: SYTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
What Failed: atikmdag.sys

Does anyone have any ideas? other games work perfectly fine, just this one BSOD

Ryzen 7 1700
MSI X370 gaming pro carbon
Team T-Force RGB 16GB Ram @3000mhz
MSI RX470 4G gaming X
EVGA 850w G3

Let's start with your full system specs but the one from Steam.

Steam -> Help -> System information -> Cut and paste the info here.

Things you should try :

- Go to C:\Users\User\Saved Games\id Software\DOOM\base and delete the config files. Both of them. Try again.

- Verify the integrity of the game files on Steam.

- The 99% menu loading crash can be caused by a software running in the background. We seen this before here. Software like Sonic Studio, Duet Display. So be sure that no non essentials programs are running. Just close down everything you don't need.

Let me know if this doesn't work and don't forget to post the steam specs.

I had the same issue. I didn't have eother Sonic Studio or Duet Display download or installed so the deleting the config files worked out for me. If you were using Vulkan it will put you back to the OpenGL API. You will probably notice an fps decrease. Maybe its because of Vulkan?

I couldnt find the steam-help-system info but I tried everything else you listed and it looks like deleteing the config files fixed it! thank you!

EDIT Nevermind, as soon as i switched it back to Vulkan it BSOD. Guess ill just keep it in Open GL?

By the way here's a tip from my experience last night...don't leave hanging the game on photo mode with Steam overlay enabled for too long or the game will start choking and end up with a BSOD. And to be sure that was my first crash in the game during my whole playtime.

Steam overlay should be disabled when using Vulkan.

Keep it in OpenGL for the moment but i would like that steam system info.

Click on Steam and go to the store. If you look at the top you can see (Steam, View, Friends, Games, Help). Click on help and in that there is a system information. Open that and cut and paste the info here.

Does turning off the steam cloud and interface work?
Culex Jan 16, 2019 @ 1:14pm
I ran this for w/ the vulkan api for 8 hours and then BOOM BSOD. Now it does it everytime at 99% when launching the game. System Thread Exception Not Handled atikmdag.sys error. I have 18.12.2 installed. RX 580. Deleted the .cfg file and was able to load the game again. Switched to OpenGL, Restarted, game works now. If i switch back to Vulkan it will load past 99% but shortly after bsod again.
