did you check both windows firewall and antivirus firewall ? failing that does your router also have a firewall, for me when this happens it is firewall problem.
Doesn't sound like your game is loading all the way?
Have you tried validating your cache files and making sure you are fully patched?
dogg: yes I'm sure the game is fully patched cause this is the second time I reinstall the game and I've also tried to validate the game cache files but nothing wrong there. So the game launches fine but after the second loading time I just get on this screen and nothing.
I think that it's not a hardware or driver problem, it's just like if the problem comes with the game itself, in fact the game was used to run fine before so this is really frustrating.
all I can say is completely remove doom from the firewal exceptions then when you start the game grant access or let it do it automatically, I've had the same error and thats how I resolved it.
Ok I'll try right away :)
One more thing to mention, I had a lot of problems with the Steam overlay and Doom. You could try disabling it if you run out of ideas :)
sry that its not helped, try going offline mode and starting the game with all firewalls dissabled and see if it gets past that screen, as I am sure its firewall related.
That was it ! I launch steam offline, all firewalls disabled and it get me on the actual working menu ! Many thanks :D
cool, now should be just a matter of finding what firewall is blocking it, and you're back in busines.
