Cyberdemon help

I am out of ammo on most weapons at the second part of the Cyberdemon battle. I have no BFG ammo either, and my weapons all do almost no damage. I am also unable to dodge his attacks so I die before I get his health down by even a quarter.

The difficulty mode I am playing on is "I'm too young to die"

His attacks are pretty scripted. Especially when he traps you with the walls. Jump, dodge, crouch as needed. Keep your distance. He should reach certain points of damage where he'll drop enough ammo pickups so you'll never run out. Problem is you'll have to kite him away from them. Wait for him charge you and dodge away. Sometimes just running around the outer edge will cause him to charge you and out of the way of the ammo drops.

He's your first real big test and it is a formidable one. Be patient. Don't rush the kill. Spend more time playing defense so your shots will be more on target. Kite and grab the ammo drops. Learn the attack scripts.

You'll get past him.

I'm not able to dodge all of his attacks no matter how hard I try. I've died 10 times now, and I never last more than about 60 seconds.

I had the hardest time on my first go around too. lol
I remember thinking he was waaaay too easy when he first fell, but then he came back again and that second round was brutal. But like rawWwRrr said, it's all pattern based. Once you get that down, you'll be able to take him out without too much trouble.

Jump, duck, jump, duck, shoot, strafe, shoot, rinse and repeat.

I know HOW to beat him, but I am NOT ABLE to do what is required to beat him no matter how much I try. I ended up using cheats to beat him because the fight was literally impossible for me. I might go back and try to beat him without cheats at a later point, but I think that I don't have enough upgrades to beat him.

this was hard? are you using a controller?

If you don't have your upgrades in check, then you'll have this problem. You'll definitely want to go back and stock up your runes, weapons and preator suit. Don't even think about going into it like this, in the harder settings.

It's not hard at all when using a controller. I beat him pretty easily with a controller on Ultra-Violence.

Keep trying. On same difficulty mode and using keyboard, the 2nd part took me about 100 tries.... But finally I managed.

It has been done on Nightmare, with a pistol.

Upgrades are not a prerequisite.

Sal, I was just thinking that too. I remember watching that video and it blew me away. He made it look so easy, so yes, you're right. Not a prerequisite, but I'm sure it took a ton of practice. lol.

Idiot Box, I had "the rich get richer" rune with most of my weapon mods installed and preator suit almost full on armor, health and ammo. (Gauss Cannon with mod and masteries down)
The "rich get richer" rune, gives you unlimited ammo, as long as your health and armor don't go below a certain threshold. This really helps bring him down, quick and easy, during the first face off. Since I had no idea what was coming during the second part of the fight, I ate dirt a few times. But once I got that pattern down, it wasn't as hard.

I was doing a lot of item hunting fromt the start, so by the time I faced the Cyber Demon, all of these things helped me get through it. Also, I believe if you manage to shoot his cannon, while he's charging it up, he staggers and releases ammo. Once the walls are broken down, move around the map, to steer him clear of these items, so you can safely collect them.


Sal's point about the pistol makes it clear that technically, you don't "need" these things to beat the creature. But it may take a while and lot's of practice, to do it with that weapon.
You may want to make sure that pistol is also fully mastered, to give it more damage kick.

Unfortunately, this is one time where the "git gud" comment applies, and I'm not saying that to be a jerk. I feel for you, OP. It's going to take a bit of practice in your case. :(

I'm just going to restart from the beginning and work on getting better as I go. That's less frustrating than keeping dying. At this point I've died at least 20 times to that second part of the boss. Also, I think I'll focus on upgrading armor and HP to give me a bit more time to kill him.

As long as you keep moving the only attack that might hit you is its charged shot that has a laser to show where it's aiming.
Did you just happen to be low on ammo when you encountered it?
