DOOM
Launching Doom Automatically Lowers Resolution (SOLVED)
Every time I launch the game the resolution drops to 640x480 and I am unable to change it back to 1920x1080 in Display Settings in the Control Panel. I've disabled the "Lower resolution for high DPI" box and it still happens.

My Specs:

ASUS ROG G752VS Laptop

Intel i7 6700HQ @ 4GHZ

GTX 1070

16GB DDR4

Samsung Evo 950 Pro 256gb NVME SSD.

Any help would be much appreciated. Sometimes the game won't do this but most of the time it will :(

::UPDATE::

So I went into the settings menu for the game and toggled the fullscreen to window mode, then back again and it's working now..stil no idea why it was lowering the resolution but it's working now.

Make sure API is set to Open GL. It's better for Nvidia. Other than that, what monitor do you have? Maybe yer GPU settings are messing with it? Weird problem that I've never heard of before.

Verify game files in Steam and make sure GFX drivers are updated....no brainers. Other games ever do this? I can't think of much else without more info.

Also, obviously, make sure the in game setting is set to 1080p...most common problem with call in customer service when something won't turn on is if it's plugged in or not. Seems stupid, but true.

I am not using my monitor. It is a gaming laptop so I am using the screen on it. All drivers are updated. No other game does this and it is always set to 1080p..but launching the game changes it so when I got back to the control panel to change it it I will change and hit apply and it flashes back to 640x480.

I ws using vulkan but I will switch it back to Open GL and see if that makes a difference.

Switching from Vulkan to OpenGL had no effect. The only time it reverts back to 1080p is if I close Doom from the Task Manager.

I had the same issue. Wait the game to load, go to in game settings/video and set the resolution from 640x480. (i donot know why or how it has changed from FHD to 640x480, but set back the resolution ingame has solved the problem for me )

Press ALT + ENTER, this should adjust the screen size to make it legible without the flicker. Once the game loads to the main menu, enter Arcade mode on any level, once the level launches change graphics settings to appropriate screen resolution.

First enter into Doom Pressing ALT+Enter... Go to settings aspect ratio should be 16:9. Then use your native resolution mine is 1920x1080. The 1080 is the important part. If you are using an older display then try 780

Setting fullscreen setting to "Borderless Windowed" fixed it for me.
