how to play doom with steam ps3 controller?

just got a ps3 controller that is steam compatible darksouls works with it but cannot get new doom to acknowledge that controller is going. anyone know how to get it to work?

I still fail to see why people would want to play fast-action twitch shooters with a controller.. It'd be as useful as attempting to wipe one's butt with boxing gloves on. :P

... To ACTUALLY answer your question instead of insult you for no reason whatsoever, Doom doesn't support PS3's controllers as far as I know. Only PS4 if I'm not mistaken, and the Xbox ones.
You would need to download a third party software like MotionJoy. But you'd be better off just buying a better controller since MotionJoy is incredibly shady yet I couldn't find a better one. The PS4 one I use works great with little hassle.

ya if i cared baout their opinions i would ask. They just need to troll people with stupid comments. Thanks for the ps4 controller reply. Can you put down the brand of the controller you use want to make sure i get one that works.
