How do you disable developer mode?
I've got an old save (never actually finished this game) which loads up into dev mode meaning I don't get achievements or network features and have to enable dev mode to make the save even work - was there ever an update to this game which fixed this? And do I need to do anything?

Uninstall then reinstall?

they too lazy to add code and change a 1 to a 0

I obviously do that at at the console but they're saying the save is 'marked' permanently as a devmode save. Surely there's a way to either convert the save to normal or...something. I've missed out so many achievements!

they just had to add code to read saves and smapmaps when the first big update came out, and fix each file, instead of telling the whole world to delete your whole profile, your saves, and saves on steam cloud

Yes, one of the patch updates did remove the Dev. mode error message, but did not fix the problem of earning achievements, the only way was to delete your profile and restart your game.

Alas it didn't even fix the devmode error message. I still get that too.
just a thought but when you type in the commend dev_Enbled or what ever it is . did you try changing resolution then finishing a level / save and exit ? i also disable any cloud in steam

I never use the cloud, and any advanced video setting changes you make, you must exit the game and re-enter. So turn off the cloud and the steam overlay, then find the user profile that is stored someplace other then the in-game profile, look in your user folder on C drv. it's in the saved games folder under IDSoftware. thats the profile you need to delete to fix your issue.

But then I lose the save?

do you want to earn achievements or not?? "what price glory" and yes you lose any progress thus far. if this is your 1st play-thru so be it. if not then it's not gonna be all that hard to get back where you were.
u cant, once u enable dev mode ull need to enable it in order to play on ur save, the only way to "fix" would be by creating a new save game :(

Yes, the problem is the update itself forced that mode on. I didn't manually activate it. Hence my issue.

Well that's not really a solution - I'm asking how to avoid the exact thing you're suggesting. I am well aware I can start a new profile/save and hey presto. But I don't want to lose my prorgress.

with all due respect dan, and i'm not being a smart-ass, but this is just how i was able to fix this same problem. i have 600+hrs in-game so starting from square was never a issue for me. it shouldn't be for you either.
