1.You have to set DOOM to your native display settings (probably 1080p).
2. Exit DOOM
3.Set your display to 144hz in Display Options
4. Restart your PC
5.Enjoy 144hz in DOOM
Stupid devs never fixed this bug. This solution works for me.
^^ This, for some reason the Windows display is somehow tied to the HZ cycle of the game.
:s
DUDE!
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY YOU MADE ME!
I had Doom stuck @ 60Hz forever and ever.
But the worse part was;
DOOM WOULD ALSO SET MY ENTIRE SYSTEM TO 60HZ AFTER PLAYING!?
If you are not very familiar with high frames or high refresh rate monitors,
you might be playing all your games and have your desktop set to 60 Hertz thanks to id Software...
And this might be the worse gaming-offense here:
Because low frames on a high refresh-rate monitor is more than just nauseating,
it’s dangerous.
Don’t take my word for it peoples.
Just try it yourself.
Set your super-duper high refresh LCD from 144 to 60Hz.
Play some games in full-screen and see what happens.
Before you’ll start looking for a negative overdrive value,
you’ll probably end up on the floor with an epileptic seizure.
THANKS AGAIN -DREIDARA-Tzu-
Your method works, is reliable and I have been able to fix everything.
Now I can even mess around with custom resolutions!
NOTE HERE:
DOOM WILL STILL LOCK AND SET MY ENTIRE SYSTEM TO THE HERTZ IT WAS STARTED IN!
(Unless I use this method to alter it.)
Which makes it possible to switch between desktop and custom refresh-rates resolutions.
In practice this comes down to switching between 144Hz (desktop) to 100Hz (Doom) with v-sync and Freesync on.
(The Doom in-game v-sync is super, otherwise I would have used another frame-capper.)
Those 44 frames less keep my system nice and cool.
FOR OTHER GAMES ON MY 144HZ MONITOR:
Going below 90fps starts to get iffy.
And at 60fps I need to play windowed.
Nice game btw this “DOOM”.
Very happy to be playing as it was supposed to.
I had the same issue with WWZ and also fixed it with this method.
Hail DREIDARA-Tzu!
