DOOM
Vulkan vs opengl 4.5?
Just started playing this game last night and I'm just wondering what the better graphical option is. Vulkan or opengl 4.5? Is there a graphical difference between the two or are they basically the same?

Depending on your individual computer setup, you could realize a fps boost with Vulkan.

It's a marginal fps gain, if any. Vulkan is more to make dev's lives easier than for the players. OpenGL has a bunch of outdated legacy tech that developers have to unnecessarily sail through to make the graphics, Vulkan is modern. You will be fine either way, as long as your video card supports Vulkan.

5% to 30% fps increase depending on the CPU/GPU you have. Around 10% with my GTX 1070/4770k

I only play at 60 fps and I'm only wondering if the graphics are better not fps.

its a graphics api and not a different engine

I removed the link.

I'm not entirely certain what you're trying to say. I do not intend to insult you or anything but your post confuses me. You appear to believe the person you quoted is wrong, but the math supports that person.

60+10%=66
100+10%=110
200+10%=220

Mathematically, a 10% boost qualifies as "marginal." A 5% boost, therefore, is less so. Even a 15% boost would not be of much significance, unless you're at 150+ before the boost, and even then you'd only get a boost of 22 (150+15%=172.5).

60+30%=78
100+30%=130
200+30%=260

That is definitely better than marginal. It seems to me, based solely on the math, people should be more concerned about which API puts less strain on their computer.

at least vulkan is reducing the cpu overhead dramatically compared to opengl

On my 1050ti, my FPS using OpenGL was abismal, consistently under 20FPS. Changing it to Vulkan had it at a solid 55~60 FPS no matter what the game threw at it.

Ok, that's just weird

On 6600xt, i see no difference in fps. it is somewhere around 160 on avg. But CPU strain is reduced significally on Vulkan.
