DOOM

The guy who Directed Hardcore Henry would be the PERFECT director for a new Doom movie
I just finished watching Hardcore Henry and it was just what I expected it to be. The story and characters were weak, but it was so action-packed and over-the-top that it was still fun. Thinking about it, Doom is also action-packed and over-the-top. A Doom movie that isn't concerned about Plot or Character would not only be fitting to the series it's based off of, it would satisfy the wishes of every Doom fan who's ever wanted to see a faithful adaption of it on the Big Screen. Ilya Naishuller would be a PERFECT candidate for Director.

Glad someone else appreciates Hardcore Henry. So much love and care with amazing stunts in that film. It would be a perfect fit for Ilya to be given a big budget and work on a Doom adaption.

Personally, I thought it was too mindless for it to be more than a guilty pleasure. As something that resembles a Video Game, it was pitch perfect. The main feature -- the 'first person' perspective -- meant that it didn't have the opportunity to flesh out it's characters or plot, but Ilya did great for what he had to work with.

Oh of course, they knew it had to be mindless, so they went with pure non-sensical fun. Worked beautifully, even for a generic plot wih basic characters, I still found it engaging and enjoyable beyond the action and stunts, even though that's the star of the show.

Yup. I also loved how the movie mocked how cheesy the plot was. The ending actually surprised me and that last fight scene? Total, bloody, brutal bliss.

That rooftop fight is honestly one of my favourite action sequences in any movie. Absolute perfection. The "final boss" death was brutal as ♥♥♥♥. The music was perfect too.
