Unhandled Exception - "Hide and Seek" Achievement in ARF
Advanced Research Facility Bug

Earlier today I was playing as normal and the game crashed on me. Wasn't sure what triggered it. But I got the typical Unhandled Exception window and did the whole restarting my PC and started the game back up again. It loaded fine. I was playing through ARF and got both collectables. After completing the mission, I'd noticed even though I had both collectibles, the achievement for it in the menu did not unlock.

"Hide and Seek"
Find 2 collectables

As the dolls are not there any more I'm not sure how to progress. I've reloaded the map and gone back for them several times, but they are gone (1. across the chasm in an alcove around the pipe, 2. in the vents by the circular room off in one of the rectangular control rooms)

It seems like this crash caused some kind of glitch that did not allow the collectibles to save properly. Any way to fix this?

Bump. I'm still experiencing this problem and unable to progress. Are there any solutions for this bug ?

I have tried to play through the mission normally as well in the time since I made this thread, thinking that it would unlock once I completed the mission, but it did not happern. Dolls are gone, unable to collect them after my first run-through. Game seems like its in a softlock state at this point (for 100%)

I'll be sending my savegames to Bethesda if there aren't any solutions here. Its a bit unnerving a big bug like this exists in such a great game.

Create and start making backup folders of your game progress when this happen again, you can simply restore your progress without having to reset the entire campaign.

I would like to present the reply I received from Bethesda regarding this issue.

Perhaps the solution here can help other players that encounter this problem. According to the reply, they are aware of the issue and present a workaround until a hard fix has been come up with for the problem. I provided a detailed crash report so I happy with the response, though, it will be some time before the issue is fixed (as there is a workaround for these incidents)

Greetings!

Thank you for contacting Bethesda Customer Support. My name is Logan and I'd be happy to help you today!

It seems like some players have reported similar issues when trying to complete other level challenges in Doom as well as this one. But, most of those players have reported success correcting the issue after trying the following remedies;

Complete the mission and the next, then replay the "Advanced Research Complex" level to see if the collectibles show up.

Other players reported that going back to replay the level after completing some separate level challenges fixed the problem as well.

Finally, if all else fails, your best bet is to see if starting a new save game/file fixes this for you. I know that this solution is not ideal but it could potentially correct the issue so that you can try and attain 100% completion if that is what you're going for.

If you try all of this out and are still having trouble please let us know so that we can try and get to the bottom of this for you!
Warm Regards,

I'm going to respond after I give this solution a shot (though I only DOOM between work and long coding sessions, gaming is only a hobby not a serious obligation over here [though I know it is for some people so I will acknowledge that] )

I'll ammend it as a reply to this thread as a 'certified' solution, as this was the one given by Bethesda, if it works.
