Reverting to older versions of DOOM 2016
ill probably catch some flak for this, but IDGAF.

i want to force revert to a older version particularly because id like to use all the cheats that were in the SP Campaign BEFORE Bethesda and their soo called "Infinite Wisdom" took them all out except for "GOD" , for 1 reason............

Utter Maximum death destruction and carnage!

i have no interest in MP Modes and frankly dont even play it.

i stumbled on a post from reddit about using Steam DB, however, im at a empass because there is no "manifest id" tab to click on to force steam to get the older versions.

anyone have any other ideas?

Has anyone else found Doom no longer starts (on Windows 10)? The screen goes black, then nothing. Task Manager shows Doom as 'not responding'.

Windows 10 tends to do that these days with games, I've had to help my friends with such issues, I suspect Win10 updates are the cause, as I haven't updated it in a long time. I suggest you navigate to the installation directory, right-click on the Doom executable, select properties, go to the compatibility tab, and mess with the scaling setting, something like changing the default from system to application or the other way around.

Don't tell anyone I told you this... but there are ways to play older versions of the game should you desire to do so. So how do you go about acquiring a copy of an older build?

Uhhh....Google is your friend(trying not to break any rules here so i'm hinting instead).

as i said, i found a reddit post containing the instructions for accessing the SteamDB. that was literally the only way i found that worked.

now i have another obstacle, my OS Drive is a small one ( 64GB SSD ) and steam is on this drive as its application.

games are installed on other drives ( 2 256 SSD's and 1 750 Mechanical ) , without having to re-install steam on another drive, can i force a DB Download to another drive by console command?

I still have my old copy since I stopped the 60gb update during that free weekend update that included multiplayer stuff I don't care about. You can disable updates and play the game , just launch the game from the exe file in the game's directory instead of launching it through Steam. If I had decent internet I would backup this older version of the game and re download the game with the new updates than compare the two folders using something like windiff or something and make a patch for the downgrade. Maybe someone who does have the means can do this? You can make the patch using a bsdiff to make a downgrade patch. Best luck
