DOOM
Vulkan Problem not listed
Please help me. I have just installed Doom on a crappy laptop. I knew that Vulkan could help me with my performance, so before I did much research on it, I enabled it. The game then said that it would restart, so it shut down and never turned back on. I tried clicking play and nothing. When I looked in my steam library, it said "Running" for a few seconds and then turned back off. I have tried setting game arguements, but I just don't think I am doing them right. I imagine the problem is that my computer just does not support Vulkan or something like that, so if you think that is the case, then please tell me how to go back to OpenGL without launching the game. Thank you for helping me out!

go to users\%username\saved games\id software\doom\base\
open doomconfig.local
change r_renderapi "1" to r_renderapi "0"

OR

add +r_renderapi 0 to launch options of doom in steam
start doom
open advanced menu and get sure opengl is set
change something to save settings
exit doom
delete the command from launch options

Just to be sure that you PC cannot support Vulkan please go to Steam -> Help -> System information -> Cut and paste the info here. I will let you know if your laptop supports vulkan or not and if you just have dated drivers.

Do you have Nvidia GeForce Experience ? It can optimize Doom for OpenGL and Vulkan according to your hardware.

Optimize Doom for OpenGL and launch the game in GeForce Experience directly.

Here is your problem.

You do not have a graphics card in your system. You are using integrated graphics.

That does not mean you can't play Vulkan on integrated graphics. Intel released a drivers that support Vulkan for their Integrated Graphics. The drivers was released February 2017.

Your drivers is dated : Driver Date: 11 10 2016

This is the main reason why Vulkan doesnt work for you at the moment. You are using an older drivers that doesn't support Vulkan.

Here is what you are gonna do to fix that problem :

- Go there and download the (Win64_154037.4835.exe) drivers. You have 4 choices. Take the one i said.

- Install the drivers.

- Reboot.

- Try again.

Please come back here and give me the Steam -> Help -> System information again so we can see the drivers change in that info to be sure you did it correctly.

After doing this Vulkan should be playable on DOOM with your integrated graphics.

Ok so I just tried installing the drivers and they are not supported on my computer. The error message says "Computer manufacturer graphics driver detected"

So its been about 8 hours. please, my problem still is not fixed. someone please help me
You show Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 as your video card. The system info shows 2 video cards but only the Intel is listed. Do you have another video card?
Your OpenGL shows ver 4.4. The current version is 4.6. Update your video driver.

If you only have a Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500, you are out of luck.

Well then I guess I am out of luck. If so,is there any other way to increase my FPS while playing the game?

So, I just tried updating my video driver and I got an error message. It says "The driver being installed is not validated for this compute. Please obtain the appropriate driver form the manufacturer.

Setup will exit.

Would you like more information?
Click yes to be directed to the Intel support website."
And then, when I click on that, it says "Error Message: Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected

Please help me. Thank you in advance
Did you try this driver? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27267/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=84697

Updating your graphic chip won't help if you only have a Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500. That is below the game minimum.
