New Commander Keen Mobile Game ♥♥♥♥♥ Up DOOM Lore
So in the DOOM and DOOM 3 lore, B.J Blazkowicz III (The Doom Guy) is in the same timeline as B.J from Wolvenstein and Commander Keen, with all of them being in the same family.

So I might have two things messed up, making one of two possibilities right:
1) The Doom Guy is the son of either character from the new Commander Keen mobile game.
or
2) The boy from the new Commander Keen mobile game is possibly the one to die and become the Icon of Sin, overtaking Argent D'nur.

Like what the f even.
I've always liked DOOM 2 the most because the character in that game is mostly unattached from the B.J family tree. So I'm hoping that the DOOM 2 marine is basis for the current Doom Slayer.

With the new trailer containing a sequence of the Doom Slayer hopping into a drop pod/escape pod of some kind, it fits a lot better to the DOOM 2 character and how he came to Earth to see it in ruins.

So this just leaves me hoping that the DOOM 2016 universe is a retelling of DOOM 2 and not a telling of the DOOM and DOOM 3 B.J ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up family tree line.

Of course I might just be heated and confused by this ♥♥♥♥ right now, so feel free to give your insight if you're a DOOM lore master.

The Doom (2016) protagonist is not connected to previous Doom guys, at least in any way that was canonically linked in Doom (2016) itself.

Based on the limited lore we have seen from Eternal, it seems quite possible that the Doomslayer in (2016) isn't even human.

Great, i always thought the original Doomguy lore was just a really bad joke.
I prefer the unknown protagonist a lot better. Also in the Eternal footage he does have a human face though.

Do people think the devs put any effort into the Doom law at all? I don't. I think it has no relevance to anything and never has. It seems to be something that part of the player base makes up. Nothing wrong with that and im not criticizing any one but it sort of goes against (for me) what Doom is about. Hes two hands and a shot gun and nothing more.

I understand there are books, comics etc, however, they are only methods to make more money from an idea but as far as actual game/story development goes i dont understand the relevance of who any of these characters are or who they are related to. In fact the greater emphasis on story and character development in Doom2016 detracted from the fast pace of Doom and had a negative impact on the game, IMHO and is a new thing in the Doom universe. The history of the characters and narrative of Doom was not in any of the games until now.
doom is a game about shooting demons in the face. it has no "lore"

Have you watched any of the Eternal stuff?

They even talked about the planet of the Sentinels, touching on the lore they started to create in (2016).

It looks like they are going lore heavy for Eternal.

Just ignore that bit of lore from the DOOM RPG, it's horribly stupid and was basically just an easter egg for fans, and if you're playing any id-related game for the story or earnestly developing a story for them then you probably need to be slapped tbh

I get this impression as well. They are definitely moving away from the original idea.

Yeah, the way they were talking on stage, they clearly have a ton of lore in their heads and going into the design of the game, and honestly the stuff presented in Doom (2016) was also fairly detailed. It just wasn't shoved in your face at any point.

As long as they keep it out of the way of gameplay, I'm cool with however they want to flesh it out.
