OMG!
Inform Lord Vader!
Some may say "SSD goez fasta!" Not for every game, only for those who use millions of files (really bad practice - use container files, Luke!). DOOM 2016 loads from ramdisk (yes i have enough RAM on my desktop) just a little bit faster than from 5400rpm laptop HDD.
The difference between the loading time is ridiculous. Like 5-10 seconds.
Just install that on a HDD.
For me the game loads in 30 seconds and a map in 15 on a HDD.
this dont mean anything,
In some games the DLC u can buy, is still in a patch/download and u downloaded it automatically, u just need a file to unlock it.
i think this is the problem here.
I have noticed the game has gotten 10+GB patches almost monthly, those patches have the dlc files is the only way to explain why the updates are so huge.
is it 10x better, longer, prettier? certainly not. it should be 20 gb max. I have spent 2 days dling this damn game and it's still not done. ffs!
meanwhile, pirate repacks are 15 gb less WITH ALL DLC INCLUDED. I don't even care for the price, but it rly makes u think...................
Look at every game ID Software has released since and including Rage, since they all use megatextures. That is they they are so big. It has some benefits, but I am not sure it excuses the game being so big. Its 50% bigger than most other big games.
Fallout 4: 26gb, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: 52gb, Shadow Warrior 2: 13gb. I do not know why Mankind Divided is even that big though, but as far as I know its because its even bigger than the previous Deus Ex games, so obviously there will be lots of cut-scenes and voice acting, along with very big maps. Mankind Divided if it was using megatextures? Probably 100gb+
