Doom Download Stuck
So Doom wont stop downloading. My game is stuck at 22.1GB. The game will download for 5 or so minutes and then it will pause for a few seconds and carry on downloading. Iv'e noticed that the disk usage stays on 0 bytes.. Iv'e tried verifying the game cache files. Iv'e restarted steam. Iv'e changed location servers.. Nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Steam sales tend to hammer the servers this time of year.

My download is also stuck at 22.1GB exactly the same problem

Okay so I tried redownloading the game. It got to 22.1gb now and it got stuck again. Man this sucks.. 67gb download is no joke. I can download any other game. I downloaded Planet Coaster and Euro Truck Simulator 2 without a hitch. If this goes on tomorrow aswell then it seems a refund is in the pipeline.

I'm having the exact same problem - Doom dowload gets stuck at 22.1GB... I've also tried changing server locations, verifying, clearing cache, moving file location to a different hard drive, clearing the ..\SteamApps\Downloading folder, and nothing has worked.
I've restarted the download process from scratch twice now, and it still refuses to move past 22.1GB, even though the "Network Usage" is still indicating that it's downloading, the "Disk Usage" just sits at zero.
I have run out of things to try, so if anyone else has any ideas (no matter how crazy), please share them.

After checking the Content_Log.txt file, I discovered that there is a problem with one of the depots (Steam segments the downloads into multiple depots); in this case, it's DEPOT 379727. I think it's supposed to contain the single player maps. I've emailed Steam Support about it, and tried to manually trigger just that particular depot to re-download, but so far, no joy.
The actual error line I found in the Content_Log.txt file is:
"AppID 379720 update canceled : Failed updating depot 379727 while unpacking bad chunk "6ea68e5697830a6d7cd7e341cbfc769e8b8d7a5f" (Unpack failed (c:879008,u:0,b:0)) (Corrupt download) "valve805.steampipe.steamcontent.com/depot/379727/chunk/6ea68e5697830a6d7cd7e341cbfc769e8b8d7a5f?l=14&e=1483653521&sid=337400654&h=af527f81b728eb117349dcc713c00eea8bde4e44""

I have contacted Bethesda support but they couldn't help much. They just said I should try restarting my router and changing server locations. I sent a ticket to steam on the 26th but they havn't replied yet. The doom files under downloads is sitting at 76gb. But I don't know if that is "reserved" space or if it has actually downloaded 76gb.. I have tried redownloading the game multiple times now and yeah.. still on 21gb. I have received corrupt download errors and connection timed out errors. Either way this download isn't going anywhere:(

After much bollocking about, I have come up with this work-around:

1. Pause your download (it isn’t actually downloading, just wasting your bandwidth), and exit Steam.

2. Cut and paste the contents of “..\Steam\steamapps\downloading\379720\” to “..\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM\” (this is so that you don’t loose the 22.1GB you have already downloaded).

3. Delete the “..\Steam\steamapps\downloading\379720\” folder, and any “state_379720_xxxxxx.patch” files located in ““..\Steam\steamapps\downloading\”. Also delete the file “..\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_379720.acf”

4. Go to the (slightly dodgy) website http://cdn3.radiantbd.com/GAMES/DOOM-FULL%20UNLOCKED/DOOM/virtualtextures/maps/game/sp/surface1/ and download the “surface1.pages” file to the location “..\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM\virtualtextures\maps\game\sp\surface1”.

5. Go to the website http://cdn3.radiantbd.com/GAMES/DOOM-FULL%20UNLOCKED/DOOM/virtualtextures/maps/game/sp/surface2/ and download the “surface2.pages” file to the location “..\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM\virtualtextures\maps\game\sp\surface2”

6. Step 4 and 5 have just replaced the files that could not be downloaded by Steam and are the reason for this infuriating problem!

7. Start Steam, go to your Library, select DOOM, and click on the “Install” button. You will have to wait quite a while for Steam to go through your previously downloaded game files and figure out which ones it still needs, but after that, it will start downloading properly again. Don’t freak out if it says “DOWNLOADED 0.0 GB of 66.4 GB”: it’s lying to you. If you pause and then resume the download a few minutes after it has started, you will see it correctly displaying the +- 20 GB you have already downloaded.

8. Pray there are no other corrupt depots, and the remaining files download smoothly (And that Steam/Bethesda eventually fix the actual problem!).

The above reply from Negative Creep worked. Thanks everyone!

Had the same problem - links down. So I skipped downloading the files and just followed Negative Creep's point 7. Holding thumbs but it seems to be downloading fine now.

Thanks Nagative Creep. Strange that a fellow gamer can find a solution to a major problem but neither Steam nor Bethesda/ID can figure this out.

Damnit! I spoke too soon. Back to the same problem. Anyone care to share the required files. I can't find them anywhere else...

thats frustrating :/

Oh man yeah I see that sucks. Maybe try looking for a torrent where you can select individual files and download those two texture files that way. Try kickass? Try copy pasting DOOM/virtualtextures/maps/game/sp/surface2/ or /surface1/ into google. Hopefully this will help in finding those two files
KaalKopDupie Jan 3, 2017 @ 9:23am
With this torrent you can select those two files and download them individually. You will find them under the maps folder. And yeah sorry about linking a torrent site.. Kindy sketchy I know.
